This was my entry for the GD Chicago 2011....didn't place, but had a great time regardless.

Looks very nice, Scipunk! I remember seeing the entry on the day and loving how the snow effect turned out. If I were looking as a golden demon judge, I'd say the miniature itself tends to blend together a lot due to the simliarities in the rusty brass and dark flesh tone. A highlight or two to separate out the different parts of the miniature would definitely help bring this from a first cut into the "place" zone. Not to mention fantasy single was pretty well contested this year. Good job!

Cool! How was the trip to Chicago? I really should go back to this GD, as its just a few hours drive for me.

Yep, much better pics!

It's got a great natural look to it, but I agree, for a GW competition, you'd really need to blast those highlights and contrast.

More contrast is usually good at GD. But I like the muted natural tones you have here. I think the face could use some more contrast, and maybe the horns. The blade needs to be straightened, and the metallics could do with a brighter highlight or two. The weakest part of the mini, for me anyway, is the corpse in his hand. It needs a few more colored washes to help add more depth to the shading. And some gore, maybe. The real highlight for this piece, the most beautiful part, is the base. It is very well done. Overall, it is a very nice piece. Well done, I hope next year you bring an even stronger piece, as you are well on your way to a trophy. Keep at it!

Thanks MightyChad....these words are of great encouragement to me.

This is the one thing that I need to work on though....contrast....apparently I tend to have some difficulty with...will definitely need to practice on some more.

Thanks again for everyone's comments and critique of the model
