Foaming Wash?

I've been having a little trouble with my washes foaming lately. I've been using Vallejo's bottled washes cut with future and there are a ton of bubbles that I have to be really careful to go back and pop. Same thing is happening with my inks and future as well. Anything I can do to combat the foam? It makes the shading ugly as hell when it dries with a bubble in it.

A brush with stiff bristles will lay down a wash differently than one with soft bristles. Also, don't scrub the wash, just gently paint it on. If there are bubbles, blow on it, it can pop the bubbles......sounds weird but it works.

Diluting the wash will reduce the amount of surfactant present, which is whats causing it to foam. However if they used a lot of surfactant in the formulation it may still foam past a useful dilution. I'd recommend just going easy on the washing and not being harsh with the brush. That should minimise the foaming.

I've had similar problems with my Vajello washes, I use their big jars.

I've found that the unless I give them a really good shake before using them, the colour seperates and I'm left with the coloured stuff at the bottom of the jar, and about an inch of milky coffee coloured liquid floating at the top.

Unfortunately giving the jar a good shaking ends up giving the wash a big thick frothy head, much like a pint of Guinness. The way I have got around this problem is to use a pipette (I little dropper type thing), I draw some of the wash from beneath the froth and then dispense it onto a pallete (I use a sumi pallete, that has little ink wells on it, great for holding washes).
