Foam and Snow by Vallejo

It is a long time now I am thinking of creating snow bases for a dark elves army but also for independent show miniatures as well. I have read the articles about snow bases and then I show the Foam and Snow product by Vallejo (http://www.acrylicosvallejo.com/ at water & stone section)and decided to give it a try. But I can\'t say I am very satisfied with the result. It looks more like white paint than snow. Have you any experience to share? I am wondering if I had not used it properly. Any other ideas?

Thanks for the interest

I use it with GW snow, just sprinkle it on top after you apply it. It might work well with Bicarbonate of soda too.

micro balloons at the bottom of the page, just mix with pva and water to required consistancy.

Edited, i have no idea why that bollocks link was their mate. i do apologise.

Thanks a lot for the responses

droogie77: I am just wondering if I use also GW snow, why just not use PVA glue. Makes it any deference with the Vallejo product? I mean that the product should give the intended result by its own. Perhaps another idea would be to mix it with GW snow. However thank you for your idea, I will definitely try your tip.

generulpoleaxe: I have already met the term micro balloons at articles about snow but I didn\'t know what exactly it was or where to find it (I still don\'t know). From your link I couldn\'t find where exactly it is.

It is easier to use than PVA, wont kill your brush and gives a more \" thick \" feel to the snow. You can also repeat the process over again on top of the dried one to pile up the snow. It can also be drybrushed lightly on the base to help the snow efffect.

I didn\'t think much of the vallejo foam and snow for snow, it does have a kind of foamy texture though, so for breaking waves I think it would be good, but ther are better ways of doing snow.
