Fitting zombies in not enough room

Couldn't find it from a quick search, so here it goes :

Last evening we played the C1 scenario and the zombies spawned in the large building bottlenecked in the first room 'cause the survivors stayed just outside the door... That room can contain maybe 15 zombies by overlapping their bases, but there were more than that that were trying to get in. We played it that the extra zombies had to wait for another turn to enter, exept for the "specials" that ousted the walkers when they wanted to enter.

I'd like to know how would you guys do it?

a) Pile them high and make it unclear what Z is in what room.
b) Take a note on a piece of srap paper of how many Zeds.
c) Use dice as Z counters (1 to 6 showing on the base of the appropriate Z).
d) Do what we did and let them file up until there's enough space.
e) Any other suggestions?

Run away? That big of a horde is not healthy!

Joking aside, I would do b or c.

Though I'm not sure how you're going to stop 20 zombies from walking out that doorway (if it's open). Survivors can't prevent movement.

Yeah, there seems to be something wrong with the basic premise here.

The zombies don't just stop at a door if there are survivors the other side of it.

when you look the rules, if the Z can't do something, they get an additional action , so "when there's no more room (in hell), the Z get an extra turn ( yay! )

Erm... No.

If you run out of minis of a particular type then, when called upon to place a mini of that type on the board, the zombies in play of that type get a reactivation.

sorry bad choice of words in my post
reactivation is when you dont have enough Z for Spawn and for split, i suggest an extra activation if there is not enough space in the room

No lack of zombies at my home... I got plenty of HorrorClix cheapies re-based especially for Zombicide!. Almost as good as having the "Walk of the Dead" box.

The thing is that they couldn't fit in the room! We didn't block them, we mowed through them. Lucky draw of shotgun + plenty of ammo, El Cholo, Nick and a chainsaw we passed around :) A few made it out, we just slaughtered them before they could do real damage... even had an Abomination hagging around with us for the last few turns, Nick absorbing whatever he dished out.

It's just that I felt a bit cheap 'cause I guess one of the reasons we succeeded is that only 15 of those decomposed brain-eaters could make it through each turn... besides the odd ones spawning outside. Oh, well! We'll give it another try eventually with the dice to multiply the figs, making sure that we have enough on the side.

Well, yeah, if you're artificially limiting the rate at which the zombies reach you, that's going to make quite a difference to the outcome.

Oh, and I just pile 'em up, and it's never happened, but should they ever get too numerous for even that, then I'd just keep that group off the board, and maybe have one representative zombie on the board.

Yeah due to not painting my set yet I happily stack em in whatever room and will move them as a pile just making sure any specials are to one side.

It usually only gets this busy while trying to set up a Molotov wipe out :mean:
