fishing for comments on my ogre

Hello all,

I\'ve been posting on CMON for some time now, but this is my first venture into the forums. I\'m working on an Ogre Kingdoms collection right now, and I\'ve just posted a pic of my first completed ogre Bull:
77119
I\'d love to hear some comments on the finished product, particularly the nmm on the weapons, armour, and shield. The look I was going for was a worn, well-used metal, made from the type of material that ogres would likely have at hand. I used GW paints, working from a grey undercoat. The metal began with 50 / 50 chaos black / dark flesh, and was blended up with codex grey. The result was very smooth, which is something I wanted to avoid; accordingly, I stippled the next few layers of highlights on, using a thin and progressively lighter mixture of codex grey, fortress grey, and skull white. I am happy with the result, but I would love to hear some suggestions or tips for improvement.

Thanks,

First, welcome to the madhouse (I mean welcome to the forums).

Second, very nice mini. The blending on the boots is great.

very nice...

I really like the skin tones. Everything has such a \'realistic\' feel to it. It works very well.

Your NMM is also very well done.

I have just gotten my Ogre Army, I haven\'t yet decided on how to paint what, but I really like what you have done (might have to swipe a few ideas!!;))

Welcome to the forums, and I hope to see more of your Ogres!

I like it, the only thing I think would do it a bit more justice, and this is personal taste more than anything, is darker tatooes and markings that would stand out more heavily upon the skin.

Besides, if you\'ve ever gotten a tattoo ... that color would fade rather quickly and get \'lost\' in definition unless it was backed against a darker color.

Your Ogre bull is great it has such a realistic/naturalistic feel to it that realy suits a mini of this size. I like Vikey have just got my Ogres and am experiment with skin tones though mine are somewhat darker. I think after having seen yours a lighter skin tone maybe the way to go.I voted and commented as well by the way.:D

Welcome to the forums!

I really like your ogre, it has that realistic look that i can\'t obtain while painting!

The tattoos are really cool, a great addition!

The skin is great, really natural even if maybe a little more contrast may help to increase dramacity without losing naturality... but that\'s just a matter of personal taste!

anyway, a big 9!

Many thanks for the comments folks,

I will certainly take the advice on improved lighting for my photos and increased contrast between the warpaint and skin to heart. Hopefully I\'ll be able to post my next Bull within the week.

LouisCypher, I hear what you\'re saying about the skin contrast. I think I may actually add a bit of darker blue-brown mix to the basecoat, just to deepen the shading.

Cheers,
