First Shot at editing with GIMP

Hi all,
I just downloaded this GIMP program everyone is talking about, I never used anything like this before, and I couldnt figure out where to start so I went to my favorite source of information ... Youtube.com ... lol

And after watching a couple demo video\'s this is what I came up with...

The photo looks a touch under exposed and the white balance looks out. Use a subtler colour for the background as well

Decent job with the selection, just have a look around the edges of the grass on the base.
