If you want gentle criticism, then you won\'t progress as quickly :p but anyways, I\'m just going to give you some overall tips that could use work. The colors on this mini look very flat(especially the white) I think that all the colors could use some deeper shadows and brighter highlights. It looks weird at first when doing super bright highlights and deep shadows but you\'ll get used to it. Also, the basework on this guy is pretty bland, try adding a couple different materials to your bases instead of just the sand only. hope that helps!

I dont think the photo does it justice! Try working with the lights and with a light tent to eliminate the shadows.

I think you have got the foundations and washing darker shades into the cracks would really help and with some sharpe highlights would really make the colours come alive.

Also some black lining would work wonders!

Over all a good job and with a little work i think you will be there! ;)

From your post I expected something awful! I can see that you\'ve got the paint on smoothly and cleanly, which is a very imprtant step. Since you seem to have decent brush control, I recommend practicing adding more highlights and shadows, basically what MathewBaich said. The bone-coloured blade looks very flat. The gems look good, but if you add a tiny pure white highlight right at the very top, they\'ll look even better. Also, if you use basing sand, it\'s a really good idea to paint it, even if it\'s just a quick wash \'n\' dry-brush. It\'ll look so much better if you do. The contrast between painted mini and unpainted sand is too great otherwise. Hope to see you posting more! :)

Ditto to what\'s been said so far, especially getting rid of the shadows in the photo.
I\'d try to up the contrasts in your shading and highlights, from what I can see in the photo, principally in your highlights.
Looking good though, tidy work. Congrats
