First attempts at freehand

I\'ve been working on a Blood Angels sergeant to go with my other minis here. But I got to thinking today about the bannerpole on his backpack and what to put there. I didn\'t want to just print something out, but the idea of freehanding on something smaller than a postage stamp didn\'t really hold that much appeal either. But I gave it a try and here\'s what I\'ve ended up with:

Hopefully you can see from the Sergeant (WIP by the way) that I\'ve been trying to apply your excellent suggestions and advice. I think he\'s looking fairly decent.

Any thoughts, comments or suggestions for improvement?

maybe make he highlights less white and more pink/orange.

what would make it really cool is some latin words or maybe the legion number (ie XII or whatever blood angels are) on the black background. looks good, looks like it should!

i am painting a chaos night lord army and there is legible latin scribled on armor and badges and stuff....adds alot to the models i think
