Fat ork [WIP]

Hello everybody!
I want to share with you my current project so that you can suggest me improvements along the way.
Following the orkish rule that the biggest you are the more dakka you can bring with you, my basic idea was to make a fat ork. I browsed a lot of bits and finally stumbled upon the river troll bodies. I haven't found any conversion of orks with this bit so I wasn't sure about the size comparison, but I guessed that it was fairly the size of an ogre body. So I purchased an ork heas and ogre legs and arms. Unfortunately they resulted to be far too small with respect to the troll body so the only choice was to... sculpt them!

I'd like to make a scenic base for him with a writing on the socket. I'm looking for a smart orkish catch phrase (maybe something dealing with the fact that the bigger you are the more dakka you can bring). Another possibility is to write his name. So far I've thought about RAMBOrk. If so I will have to make a bandana, military pants and maybe mimetic on his body too. What do you think?
I'm also unsure whether to make him a loin cloth. It whould be a great place for freehands but I still have to decide.
I will need more suggestions soon.
Comments and crits are welcome!

Thank you!
Actually i was wondering whether to continue this log or not as it seemed that nobody is interested :-\

Yeah don't worry about low amounts of comments, once you have questions or need some help with smth you'll notice a ton of people coming out of the woodworks ;)

Also, it's always good to have a WiP like this a reference back in the back :)

I've been lurking a bit too - my only comment may make you wish you hadn't asked, though: is it me or are his forearms a bit short? His right hand seems to almost bleed into the elbow.

Sorry!

Thank you guys! I didn't want to look as if I was whining though :), just trying to understand if there was a point in my posting this WIP here ;).

Don't be sorry, actually critiques are the main reason why I post WIP. I think that the length of the forearm is ok, but the bicep is so bulky that "absorbs" the forearm.

I was also wondering whether to increase the fat % in his arm, although I kinda like how it turned out and the "rule of cool" comes in, that is if something is cool you can forgive it even if it is not so realistic.

So my possible choices are:
1) to leave the arm as it is,
2) to file and sand it in order to reduce its volume a bit and to resculpt it to make it less fit and more fat (that is less defined and "fibrous"), more like an ogre:

Opinions anybody?

You can leave the bicept. My 2 cents would be to cut the hand off and move it out to were the fingers are and narow down the wris to where it connects to the hand. Looking at your ref picture you appear to have the fingers stopping where the barbell starts on the body builder.

Yep, you can see from your reference pic that the curve of the bicep stops at the chunkier part of the forearm - then there's the wrist (the narrowest bit of the forearm visible in the pic) then the hand, hidden by the barbell. The big bulging bit above the bicep is his pectoral muscle, which makes it look like the bicep is much bigger.

In yours the bicep ends more or less where the hand starts, if that makes sense.

I'm with you on the 'cool', though - and I like the veins.

I attach a wip of the weapon.

I am pretty happy with the badmoon glyph.
The chain will be connette to the shoulder pad and will represent a stabilizer for the weapon instead of the leather strap that I envisaged at first.
Jewellery chains usually have more fancy shapes so I decided to create it ring by ring from iron wire.
This is the right time for suggestions and improvements.
I also have a question. How to make rivets? I was thinking to slice a plasticard rod but it seems difficult to make the slices thin and even.
Sorry for the crappy photos!

What I usually do is pick out a piece of plasticard rod that's the right size and indeed slice them, it's pretty doable with a very sharp hobby knife, allthough being carefull is recommended ;)

Gun is looking cool but are you going to connect the bottom flamethrower piece further back to the magazine? This way the connection looks a bit flimsy compared to the weight of that part of the gun. I would try to bulk out the connection between the plastic part and the selfmade minigun to make it look a bit more realistic.

Thanks for the tip ;).

Yeah, at first it was in a rear position but I want to show the badmoon icon in the front of the magazine, so they should not be too close.
Any ideas?

Could add 2 bars that connects the 2 straps around the miniguntubes, one on top and one on the bottom and use the bottom one to connect the flamer part back in with the rest and give it some more realistic support?
Just thinking out loud here ofc :)

That is not dead which can eternal lie.
In fact I am here again! It took me some time but I am putting a lot of effort in it. The blue marker is just to highlight some clear plastic contours.
The minigun is finished. I will fatten the arm next and then I will do the other arm, but I still need to make some design.
C&C welcome!

Hi, new update!
You can also see tha I added some plaques to the tip of his boots. I drilled a hole in each plaque and in the feet, then I pinned the plaques to the boots using iron wire. Finally I cut off the exceeding part of the iron wire so that I also achieved a rivet look.

Finally I ask you an advice. I want to make the shoulder pads from a bent sheet of plasticard. How do I bend it? Hot water? Flame? Do you have any experience?

It's been a while since my last post but in the meantime I also had the chance to advance on the fat ork project.
My intention was to stop a little bit before making the ork too much over-the-top in term of bulkiness and chunkiness. I'm afraid I failed! The whole came out so large and with plenty of stuff upon it that I continuously had to modify the initial design in order to keep it "readable", which I'm not sure I managed to achieve.
In the picture you can see that some parts are just attached with tack, but apart from that the sculpting is at 95% of progress. Since I took the pictures yesterday I already retouched the tabbard and still have to retouch the backpack, put a couple of wires on the bionic arm (where biceps are supposed to be) and on the choppa.

The most important part that I have to finish is the grot! I am convinced that it can add something to the character of the miniature. I want it to enhance the concept of the fat ork overburdened with weapons but I'm not sure about how. Granted that I don't want to resculpt more than a hat and maybe the right arm, my ideas so far are:
1. replace the stick with a meat cleaver (hinting at why the ork is so fat) or put it hanging like a cross body bag.
2. reshaping the right arm so that it carries a missile (like the clear plastic one on the machinegun).
3. replacing the stick with a revolver (but I'd have to scratchbuild it, not sure about the result).
4. resculpting the right arm so that it points forward and glueing the head towards the ork, to make them in relation, as if the grot is giving (or pretending to give) orders.
5. sculpting a WWII style helmet? Or another warmonger hat?
6. Whatever.

I'm particularly interested in your whatever and of course comments, questions and critics are welcome as always!
