Failed tackle on edge of board

If u fail a tackle and are on the edge of the field can u be knocked down assuming there are no other adjacent characters ?

According to an strict interpretation, yes. On Page 17 it says if "any of the spaces adjacent to your figure (besides the one with the contest winner) is blocked or occupied". The spaces at the edge of the board by definition have a blocked side because you can not move onto them. Now I think that a definition of a blocked square would be a great thing for the FAQ.
