Enjoyment Test

Hi everyone. I gave up painting about 4-5 years ago, a combination of house move, turbulent personal life and little time putting paid to the hobby. I gave away my entire paint set and kept only a few models on the off chance that I'd want to get in to it again. Like a lot of others (I suspect) the new happenings at GW peaked my interest again and I went fishing for my models. It just so happened that I'd been given a Sigmar Marine thingy (Stormcast something or other I think) and I figured that he'd be a perfect test model to see if I actually wanted to get back in to painting. So I went and bought a few paints - not knowing if this would be a one off I didn't want to go overboard here and got the Primary's and a metal (Silver as I don't like gold).

This is the current state of the guy:

Going to try for a purple spot colour on the shoulder pads and shield and weather the armour up some. A bit of a disclaimer here; I'm not going to be trying for the best mini I've ever painted here, I'm merely trying to work out whether I'll want to do more after him.

Think I might though, just putting the basecoat on gave me a huge grin...

Almost Perftec! Aw, crap.
Yep you're hooked again. Do a few minis to get your eye in and then wait for the primaris marines to be released in separate kits like with the battle for calth sets that came out after the boxed set :)

Great to see someone getting into the hobby again!
PS: You got the RGB primaries (you seem to work digital judging for the screens and that nice touchpad) so for making up a set of pigment primaries (CMYK) you would need a yellow also ;)

Thanks guys, definitely feeling the pull again! Already got a list of the paints I want to get next, yellow is definitely one of them! Anyone know if the new gw washes are similar to the old inks? Used to like those but can't tell if they're the same thing.

I did a bit on his face plate and blocked in the purple colouring today but it's not really worth a picture. Got to be honest though, this isn't the most inspiring model... I'm wondering whether to blast through this one and get on to one of the others I have (pic below) or try and take my time getting back in to the groove before going off half cocked.

This is the small amount of models I kept, some of them had been started on obviously.

And I've also got 2 of these...

If you like inks go with inks. the new washes aren't inks, they are very matte. Scale 75 or vallejo have some very nice inks.
