energy saving bulbs

Hi,
I bought some energy saving daylight bulbs for use with a light cube and on the box it says they are 30w and equivalent to 130w. does this mean that they give as much light as a 130w bulb or a 30w one?

It means they use 30 watts but put out as much light as a 130 watt bulb.

Yup...Energy savings bulbs used to be hideous for painting or photo...since they put off such a sickly color...but they have gotten much better, and its probably worth switching now.

I\'d take a few test shots with them. Unless they are OTT or Day-Lite, I would be guessing they are heavy in the blue spectrum.
