Eldar Aspect Warrior Army?

Has anybody got an Aspect Warrior Eldar army?

I\'ve recently acquired an aspect warrior army (thanks to a trade with Gilvan Blight :) )and was wondering if anybody uses them?

After reading the fluff in the Eldar Codex, I\'d like to field a squad of each Aspect, as thats how I see the Eldar army. The Eldar on the path of the warrior pick an Aspect and it is these warriors who should go to war, yeah guardians and the like are able to defend there craftworld, but I feel it should be the Aspects that go off to battle (I could be totally wrong,wouldn\'t be the first time, lol)

Most Eldar armies I\'ve seen just have a shed load of jetbikes and skimmers, I will include some, but want to base my army around the Aspect warriors.

Are they practical to use, or will they just get battered? I know I will need to use troops but dire Avengers are technically an Aspect, but probs will get some cheap guardians and also some rangers

Well my eldar have:
Dire avengers
Banshees
Scorpions.

I like how those 3 aspects go together, they can mutually support eachother on the field while i have 2 guardian squads, and wraithguard holding back as support.
I balance my army on a set theme. Heavy fire support rear with fast infiltrating heavy combat units up front with the avengers giving a close fire support unit that doesnt shy from combat either.
i liek the feel of that very defined Static element with a fast mobile element to achieve objectives and disrupt my opponents lines.
The best advice is to throw the army down in the best list you believe you can make with what u have. then see how it fares THEN you can tailor that list to your playstyle and slip into the zone where your fielding units your comfortable and confident with.

Yeah I guess I\'ll just have to try them out and see which ones I like, just waiting for my Warp Spiders to arrive then I\'ll have a squad of each.

I guess I can tailor my force depending on the enemy, going to stick the Fire Dragons into a Falcon to use as tank Busters.

I have the hawks and spiders for fast suprise attacks, and also going to take a minimum of 5 jetbikes to whizz around and claim sneaky late objectives, lol

There is this Biel-Tann army list in the Eldar Craftworld book, think it lets you field aspect warriors as troops..

Yeah, the Biel-Tann army is the most focused on the Aspects, aren\'t they the ones that have the court of the young king?
A council of exarchs and what not?
Let me check:............:
Yep, It\'s them, the \"Swordwind\".
Quote-\"The militant Eldar of the Biel-Tann place greater importance upon the Path of the Warrior than other craftworlds. They know that if a new empire is to be forged, it will be done in the crucible of battle, tempered in strife, and quenched in blood.
As a result, the Exarchs of Biel-Tann number more than any other craftworld. The deadliest of the Exarchs band together into a military force known as the Court of the Young King.\"

Many moons ago during the 2nd edition of WH40K I played an Eldar army. Back then you didn\'t have to take Guardians in your army so I usually played with mostly Aspect warriors with a few extras such as wraithlords / wraithguard and bikes to fill in any gaps.
It\'s more challenging to take more Aspect warriors as they each have a specific role to fulfill in battle rather than being \"jacks of all trades\". The trick is to maneuver / place your units so that they can do what they are specifically designed to do; such as getting Banshees and Scorpions into close combat as soon as possible. If you can do that then they are a beauty to behold as they rip your opponent apart with the grace that only an Eldar army can achieve.

A lot of people think the Eldar are difficult to master just because of that, most of them can only do a few things good, so if you get your banshees shot to pieces and can\'t get your Fire Dragons close to a tank then your screwed. That\'s why I prefer Space Marines :D If you can\'t kill of a tank with one unit, another unit might do they job just as well :D

I didn\'t know this allowed you to field the aspect warriors as troops.I\'ll have to read the codex again, as if that\'s true then I\'ve found my craftworld :) The fluff for the Biel-Tann fit my army very well as they ahve the most Aspect warriors and rangers (which is all I have at the moment, lol) but I hate green :(

I had done a test of some schemes and prefered the Sam Hain (or whatever) colour scheme, but don\'t like their fluff that much.

I know you can make up space marine chapters, is it the same with the eldar, or are all the craftworlds named?

Your Army, your cash, your choice.
If I can do a Hospital Guardian Sisters Of Battle Army, why can\'t you do somthing wild and different for the Interior Decorators in space.;):Dlol

Good point, well put !!

I had toy\'d with an \"Iron Man\" themed army, as the new Eldar helmet screams \"Iron Man\" to me. I kept humming the opening bars to Black Sabbath \'Iron Man\' as I was painting it. I did it gold and red, but Gilvan suggested I should do it yellow and red like the comic book. I\'ll have to get both done and posted on here for comparison :)

Sounds like a plan - although I have to admit to me at least the Tau more than the Eldar scream Iron Man.

I think he\'s talking about the helmet shape. I always thought of the Tau as Japanese animation, while the Eldar are more like, um, well, Japanese warriors in real life...hmm. Never mind.

Back on topic, I think the swordwind idea is cool, but I think the Craftworld Eldar codex is two editions out of date. Not that I wouldn\'t play you, \'cause I think its cool - but make sure you still are able to field a codex army for those opponents or events where imagination is frowned upon (if you even care, that is).

Yeah I was talking about the new helmet shape :)

I managed to get hold of a copy of the codex, I can\'t field all the Aspect wrriors as Troops, but an all Aspect warrior army is still possible, but expensive.

my possible army so far;

HQ: Avatar of Kaine (Fits in with the Biel-Tann) or a Farseer
Elites: Banshees, Striking Scorpions, Fire Dragons
Troops: Dire Avengers, Rangers, Jet Bikes
Fast Attack:Warp Spiders, Swooping Hawks
Heavy Support:Reapers

Obviously I\'ll need to included some transport, probably some falcons for the Banshees and fire dragons and may need some grav tanks for extra heavy support. All the Aspect warrior squads are 5 man squads which include and Exarch.

I\'ve never played as Eldar, any suggestions would be apprecited as I\'m unsure whether I\'m missing something important.

Eldar Army

I have girlied my Eldar up. They are Light Turquoise, White and gold. I very rarely see girls in 40K so I had to represent;)
I have found if you run a farseer with doom and guide; attach that bad boy to your dire avengers and pop the whole pile in a wave serpent. those things are nasty with a doomed, guided bladestorm;)

Well I\'ve amassed about 2000pts of Eldar and did relatively well in my first game with 1000pts, although my opponent had never played before so made it a bit easier than it should\'ve been.

I\'ve pretty much got one of everything I want, barring the tanks and a couple of squads I\'m uncertain about.

Can anyone explain the benefit of taking Harlequins and Wraithguard? I suppose in their place I\'m using Banshees and Dark Reapers, so if anyone can compare the units I\'d appreciate it :)

My models in full:

HQ

Avatar
Farseer
2 x Warlock
Maugan Ra (Used as a D.Reaper Exarch, coz it\'s an awesome model)

Elites

10 x Banshees inc Exarch
6 x Scorpions inc Exarch
5 x Fire Dragons inc Exarch

Troops

5 x Dire Avengers
10 x Guardians, I\'ve magnatised the support platform so I can choose the weapon
9 x Rangers (want one more)
1 x Jetbike (Obviously need two more at least)

Fast attack

5 x Warp Spiders inc Exarch
7 x Swooping Hawks inc Exarch

Heavy Support

5 x Dark Reapers inc Exarch (actually have two, but web of skulls one is defunct)
1 x War Walkers (again both weapons are magnatised, want two more to fill squad)

Transport

1 x Wave Serpent (want at least one more)

I\'d like a Falcon and Fire prism, plus a couple more of the Phenoix Lord models to use as Exarchs. does nayone know if there are any plans for new Eldar models, mainly the jetbikes? I don\'t want to buy them if they are going to be changed. which is a bit odd for me to say, as most of my models are the 90\'s ones, lol
