eBay pro-painted at it\'s best

I know this is a recurring subject but this auction is surely the BEST eBay pro-painted I have seen. Especially check out the lowest picture (the beast with a pink head and body).

If I could only be a prop like that!

Hey - They are making money off of their painting and all of the paint is close to were it belongs. The are painted, and technically, by a professional. My only complaint is that they \"would look great with any display\" except that they don\'t look that good together. Not very well themed for the basis of an army.

What is the obsession with this topic?

I seriously don\'t get it.

LET THE BUYER BEWARE Caveat Emptor.

The pictures make it clear of the quality the buyer will get. Pro-painted or not, if they are worth the money, they will sell, or not.

How come there are no complaints about beer ads. Drinking copious amounts of beer DO NOT make semi-naked hot chicks slobber all over you. Or does it?

not the first time I\'ve seen that. I think its an insult to those of you (I am NOT counting myself) who are truly talented and DO \"pro\" work.

Its become like the \"WOW L@@K super rare collectibel\" crap on ebay !

CAVEAT EMPTOR FOREVER!

[/waving lighter] let the buyer beware, oh oooh! [waving lighter]

I say these are worth the price but need to be stripped. sorry, not worth the price. I say just pic em up off the GW site.

Ya know, they really are not THAT bad, heck, I couldn\'t do much better. And I have sure seen worse on eBay and here on CMoN for that matter.

Oh and in reply to...

If you really want I can drink copious amounts of beer, get semi-naked, have a hot flash (have started having those recently, They SUCK) I can also slobber all over you. But give that I am really over weight, you probably wouldn\'t enjoy it much lollollol

As has been stated before, \"pro painted\" is a meaningless phrase.

That said, these minis are pretty mediocre - the painter mostly stayed inside the lines but displays no evidence of colour choice whatsoever. They look like vicious aliens trying to be clowns and failing at it (it\'s not like they can all fit in a Volkswagen after all).

I dunno, that sounds at least as good as anything I\'ll find at the bars around here.

I certainly couldn\'t paint a Tyranid to look any better than those. Never could figure out a way to make those things look like anything \'right\'. lol

\'Display\' pieces they may not be, but hey...if you can get money for \'em more power to you.

Selling stuff on eBay does not a professional make. Ebay is just a big flea market. If I sell a crappy old painting on eBay, can I call myself a professional art dealer?

No! Why? Because a professional practices a PROFESSION, and a profession is what you do to make the money that pays for your needs, like food, shelter, clothing, etc. These \"pro-painting\" people (for the most part) are hobbyists who makes a couple of bucks off of their yard sale stuff.

Wise man say: \"Beware he who finds all things simple, because he will make all things difficult.\"
Simplifying the definition of \"professional\" to \"making some money for a job\" is way too general and easy to distort. *sigh* Gah, silly people....

i rarely sell minis or do comission work, but i think i paint well enough to say i paint at the professional level. would it be inappropriate for me to post an auction saying that ( *i dont*)? i even have a mini up for sale: vindicare temple assassin ; great paint job! by the standards of people at this sight, its not even a great paint job. so my question is - must one make a livelyhood at a thing to be considered a pro?
perhaps he does make a livelihood painting retro minis.

I heard a great definition of what makes a profession (and therefore what makes someone a professional). A profession is a job which has a regulatory body responsible for certifying and monitoring those who do it. So a Lawyer, plumber, accountant etc are professionals.
There is no certification for figure painting and no formal group who can monitor your competence.

i think taking a shot at any ones work and rubbishing it is bad form.

if they can make money from it good for them.

if people feel so bad about the terms used for painted minis then maybe an official miniature painters guild should be formed and people can become craftsmen and mastercraftsmen when they are deemed good enough.

until that day can people leave the snobbery/elitist attitude alone.
this is one of the reasons why coolminiornot has the reputation of being painting snobs.

edit:- beaten to it, git.lol
