Dwarven samurai army pictures

Hello everybody!
I discovered this site at the beginning of this accademic year, but I noticed it has a forum just now (too many colorfull pics all around distract a bit-besides I\'m slightly dislessic and it takes some time for me to process what\'s written around:p)!

Anyway I see that here many really good painters/sculptors share their precious knowledge and I decided to ask all of you for ideas/tips/opinions/ecc... about my latest and most colossal project: The samurai dwarven army of the Forge flame clan (WH fantasy rules)

Maybe first some background, for you to have an idea of what I\'m actually capable of: I already have 4 dwarven themed/converted armies (not all painted yet unfortunately):

-Dwarven deamon hunters with GS(=greenstuff) chaos armour with demonic faces, big axes and a lot of blood everywhere-most models converted from GW(games workshop) plastic chaos warriors and beastmen (it took me a lot of cutting legs and knees:D) - The sadistic ingeneer on my account is one of them.

-Dwarven dragon hunters all with GS dragon armour (seem a bit like GW dragon princes), red obsidian axes and GS dragonskale cloaks. If you look under my account you\'ll see some of them arranged into a mordhaim warband.

-Dwarven Frost bite army with green obsidian hammers, ice armour and dwarven armoured warewolves (these were fun)

-Mutant slayer army all made from dwarven hibrids-satirs, warewolves, half orks, half trolls, leonins, ecc...

Basically I\'ve been collecting/converting dwarves for the last 10-11 years, while I started playing only lately because I had hundreds of heroes but few file and rank troops.

Now, the samurai dwarven army!!!:
The idea is to make an army of assault dwarves of samurais and shalin monks with flaming fists (fluff: one of the lost clans, disappeared in the first chaos invasion in the times of the collapse of the polar gates-the whole keep was inglobed a warpstorm and teleported back in time on the ancient isle of Nippon. There they mixed slowly with the autocton culture and only lately found the way back to their ancestral home...)

So far I converted:
- 22 miners into asault heavy naginata (pole weapon with a shorter blade on it\'s end) all with unique GS samurai armour (actually every model in the army has a slightly different armour, to represent their family armour, as for the real samurais)

Some pics:

- several heroes (completely covered with GS-only head, boots and hands remain of the original models)

- 22 Longbeards with assorted hand weapons (katana, wakizashi, tetzubo, kusari gama, ecc...) and marauder\'s shields (I\'m thinking of ordering some of the GW Lord of the rings new asiatic shields)
- Several warmachines\' crews

I\'m planning to convert 20 plastic beastmen (actually I\'m using only the body-cutted here and there of course) into 20 dwarven shaolin bold monks in various dinamic positions and with flaming fists (like the special punch of Ryu/Ken in Street fighter) and decorated beards (based on the concept art scatches of the new dwarven book)

Now what I\'d appreciate is some feedback from you:)
Basically I would appreciate any kind of tips (links to sites for examples, immages of samurais and monks, ideas for other japanize units/warriors that could fit in, like ninjas and so on... don\'t bother about the difficulty of the conversions-I\'m pacient and stubborn-I\'ll find a way or I\'ll ask for help:)

I suggest the films of Akira Kurosawa for Samurai reference. There is a great boxed set out right now from Criterion.

Personally I\'d just buy the premade ones that Ghost Miniatures puts out.

Of course if you want it for a GW tournament the won\'t help you.

Ghost pics are hard to find, but I\'ve ordered some and have been very pleased with the quality and you can\'t beat the price.

[edit: I found some pics. These are just a few. The line is actually pretty big. Saw prices for monks and ninja but couldn\'t find pics]

Yerr...I think we need some pics
The concept of it though is brilliant, Samurai have got to be one of my personal favourite \'old time\' warriors.

I\'ll try...

Ok, we have 2 problems:

1. No digital camera, beside the one we occasionally steal from a friend\'s father\'s studio when he\'s not present (wich now is slightly more difficult because he took it with him on journey in germany till next week:p)

2. No internet connection (ok, I\'m studying and I live in a temporary appartement with no phone/internet connections at all-I post these posts and check the emails in an internet caffe near my appartment, while Shorty, this friend of mine, posts the pics we have in our gallery, but he\'s increadibly unreliable and needs months to do something:p:p)

However I\'ll try to borrow the camera from some classmates or somebody and try to motivate enought Shorty (threats of painful and slow death don\'t work any more, maybe some torture will do), to get the pics updated as soon as possible.

Ok, we solved our first problem: I borrowed a digital camera from a friend and took some pictures.

Still the second problem remains (ok, hopefuilly shorty will update the pics in 1-2 days and then I\'ll post the link, hopefully:p)

Finally the pics...

Ok, finally I got a working PC connected to the net and I managed to post some pics of my dwarves (I know the quality isn\'t too good but the camera was what it was:p)

I\'ll try to post better pics and the development of the new conversions (like the dwarven lord) as soon as possible.

Unfortunately there aren\'t all the samurais I converted, because most of them had to be undercoated with black and with this camera you wouldn\'t see anything:p:p

Anyway, this should be enought for an apetizer and for you to give me some feedback:)

Thanks in advance for all comments:D

Am I doing something wrong? I cannot find any links to pictures.

Some real good work there. You should spend some time trimming them tho so they dont take up too much space.

Anyway you seem to have some skill with the green stuff so I take it now you just need either inspiration or approval.

Looks great what youve done just do more of it.

Thanks

Thanks for the compliments:)

Well, somebody never ends to learn more, more triks, tecniques and methods-for instance I have to improove my NMM, since I plan to paint the whole samurai army in NMM and this forum is the most \'qualified\' I\'ve seen so far:)

As I said at the start of this thread I\'m looking forward for any kind of feedback: criticism, comments, compliments, tips on \'how could I make it look better\', inspiration material, links and possibly some nice ideas to convert new themed dwarves (I hugely enjoy the converting/sculpting part of the hobby (actually more than painting, eventhough it depends on my mood))

Ah, by the way, a question for the moderators: Is there any chance that you or somebody could take pics from this site and publish them on some wargamer magazines? Because a friend of mine told me he saw pics of my minis and me mentioned around some american wargamers magazines, but I don\'t have the slighjtest idea how the hell did I end up there (since I\'m from Slovenia and the only disposable pics of my minis are here, as far as I know).
I don\'t have anything against it, I\'m just trying to figure out how did it happen:p

However, I\'ll post here some pics of the developing samurai conversions I\'m working on now in 3-4 days time (now I\'m extremely busy with an exam at my faculty:p)

See you;)
