dullcote, drying

I have a quick question for the experts out there. I was thinking of taking up the practice of dusting the figure between sections with testors dullcote, and I was wondering if you can speed up the drying time with a hair dryer?

in theory I would say you probably could, but I wouldn\'t risk it personally, it doesn\'t take that long to dry, only a few minutes at most, I say just let it be and wait it out

You can generally touch the mini without problems after 10-15 min. So, get yourself a cup of coffee in the mean time instead of pulling out the hairdryer! :D

Really, I didn\'t know that. I always heard that it took like 8 hours to dry before you could paint over it or handle it.

Learn something new every day I guess :) Thanks for the info guys.

It probably takes longer than 10-15 minutes before the coat is entirely dry, but you can touch it without getting any marks on it after 10-15 minutes. If you only dust it lightly I don\'t think anything bad will happen if you continue to paint it. But try it out and see what happens... it\'s the best way to find out! :)

Sometimes I do spray my minis with dullcoat after certain sections. 15 minutes seems to be about the right time....I also put them directly under my \'desklamp\' though so that probably helps.

I\'d be cautious about the Testor\'s dullcote after a painting session. I\'ve used Vallejo glaze medium in a paint session, then finished with Testor\'s dullcote, and it left blobbly little snots on my figures. Make sure the the paint/glaze/etc. on the figure is dry before applying the dullcote. I\'ve found that dullcote itself dries very quickly.
