Duel display base

Thought I\'d post this here and ask for any additional suggestions or ideas:

krootvsm_duel_scene_fin.jpg

Essentially, it\'s for a duel between a Kroot and a Space Marine Standard Bearer, with the Kroot jumping off the broken pillar section in the back corner and the Marine wounded and trailing a shattered leg as he staggers past, bracing himself on the banner pole. Comments, criticisms, and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Looking good, the scenery sounds very alive! can\'t wait to see the minis on there. Great idea with the metal, I recon you got magnets under your minis then ?

Maybe some more detail on the back wall ? An Eagle or something. Other than that, it looks great!

Looks very nice. As for additions, maybe try some rebar coming out of the top of the broken wall. Also, some scorch marks might look nice on th damaged wall and pillar. Shattered glass and framing in and around the windows might look nice too.

Again, really nice work so far. Hope to see the finished product soon.

Go another level of h/l and shading. Also a few tufts of grass will help the base. Poseters on the wall or the eagle as was suggested. Nice work cant wait to see the finished details.

Some good ideas there, the metal beam is a great idea and grass tufts as well :)

Another thing, in the wall you got a window, some broken glass would be very nice, maybe some of it still sitting in the window frame, MAYBE it could be a church glass, you know like the colored glass... can\'t remember the name...

Looking quite nice.

The only suggestion I might make is that the expanse of wall that will be behind the Kroot figure is a bit plain. I\'m not suggesting anything that would distract from the miniatures, but some appropriate minor bit of ornamentation might be in order.

In the process of adding another step up of color, being extra careful to detail some of the \"flatter\" areas of the dirt - I see what you guys mean.

So far as \"grass\" goes, I don\'t have any static grass but I do have the stuff I used on my Cryx Deathripper - figger that\'d about do it, so long as I trimmed it shorter and made it a less straw-like color?

I do think the idea of adding something behind the area where the Kroot is jumping, but I\'ll likely hold off on that right now for 2 reasons: time constraints, and I want to see how the Kroot looks hanging there fully painted as the current color of the wall kinda hides the music wire holding him aloft.

Thanks for the suggestions thus far! I\'ve got the Marine for the duel GS-ed, but I\'m reworking his banner.

try getting static grass.

your base is looking really cool but needs colour/color and static grass will help this.

Make it in small compact clumps and leave it for hours before trying to shake it off otherwize it can end up clinging to everything. (I guess the name static gives that away.)

:~(i had to use the hoover to get extra bits of mine after its bag had been rubbed on a car???
