Looking good so far! Perhaps enlarge the head very slightly and paint some flames coming from his mouth. Maybe have a few spines down the back of the neck too.

The shape of your dragon is great you just need some highlights like some light blue on the ribs of the wings and on all the high points. I know that the dragon is flat but you have to imagine that it is 3d and paint a light line on all the parts that would be the top if it were 3d. You have a great start though.

Well, I know in my case, I now account for 3 views. First view, I read the post, went to look at the piece and had to contemplate a response. Then, second view, I came back to the post and read Kat\'s response and Cocanour\'s response and decided they\'d pretty much covered what I\'d intended to say. Third view, I checked the thread today because there had been a new post in it, yours, and I found something I could comment on. Three views, 1 response.

I image that this is a pretty common phenomena. I know it is for me. THis would account for the many views and few replies.:)

You broke the rules

There is one big problem, you broke the main rule in Heraldry, you have a colour on a colour. Blue and black are both are both metals and should never be used on each other. I know there are those out there that would argue that this is a fantasy mini, but being as it is Bretonian I think following heraldic tradition is relavent.

Yellow and white are considered as metals - and early form of NMM? - respectively gold and silver. All the other colours are considered as tinctures.

The convention is that you do not put a metal on a metal or a colour on another colour.

I see, so as an example, if i made the shield half black and blue. I should paint the symbol in a \"metal\" color if i wanted the heraldry to be correct?

It is worth remembering the reason for heraldic devices on shields and armour was to identify the knight and his retainers at a distance (ie in a battle). Putting blue and black next to each other would be be unusual as the two would not be easily distinguished and could look all one colour. More likely would be to have one half blue/black and the other yellow or white. Devices would probably go on each half in a contrasting colour/metal eg a red eagle on the gold(yellow) half and a white stag on the blue half. Most coats of arms that have devices on and are divided are due to the joining of different families through marriage - this can get very complicated with some shields having over a dozen different coats of arms combined.

Don\'t forget that what you are depicting is fantasy so really anything you want to paint goes.:)
