Ok thread is open for input :D
I will help host whatever is needed....Maybe Becca could record keep on this one and help... and if green stuff is willing we would need your help to organize what pieces to make a salable army etc... Do many here have Rackham already? I can help with the mini supplies if needed.

Count me in...I\'m not to knowledgeable about gaming armys...First, I guess an army type would have to be decided on, GW, Rackham etc? Then how many points? Do we buy units ourselfs?? which is ok with me. :D

So I was Painting and thinking and thinking and well you know your painters, sculptors etc.... then it struck me unless you saw the thread this refers to you will not know what is going on???
so
Greenstuff mentioned....
I voted for Sci-Fi because that\'s what I\'ve got the most of and would be willing to swap, but maybe something like an all LotR swap, or swapping minis from a same army to maybe sell the painted result on eBay to donate for a humanitarian cause or something in that line would be a better idea.

There is the idea:innocent:

Thank you Tracy for starting the thread :).

Of course I\'m in and willing to give a hand in the army\'s composition. I\'m up for Rackham, WH40K, WHFB, LotR, or Warmachine.

Hi, count me in. I\'m able to get almost any manufacturer very easily, and have a large backlog of figures to choose from. Can I suggest that we decide whether the Army will be a huge block affair (ie Warhammer Fantasy) where troop figures are usually basic, and small Skirmish forces (Confrontation or Mordheim) where each figure can have attention lavished upon it.

Cheers,
PP

I\'m in! and I think a \"warband-type\" army would be best, it would kind of suck to be assigned the 12th archer in a 20 man unit of plastic archers. Every mini should have a unique importance, since every figure is a unique display of a persons painting. I\'d love to do a confrontation thing, since it would be that kick in the ass I need to try my first of their minis. But that is just my own, totally bias opinion!

I\'m in this one too, I have most popular brands brands Rackhams, GW and I-Kore so I can donate a model or two.

Well, as I said in the other thread, I am more than up for it and if I don\'t have the figure, we\'ll I\'ll purchase it.

Right now I would say perhaps a GW or a Rackham selection would likely do the best, and of those, probably the GW would go for the most but I think I would enjoy painting something from Rackham more.

That said, I think we can either dig into our own piles and pull out miniatures to make up a band, skirmish group or an armyr OR we can all decide on a theme and an army and go out and purchase one miniature each and build it up (if that is even realistic).

That would pretty much mean that each person would realisticlly look at pulling between $5-$13 out of their pockets to participate, paint it up, and then send it along to one person to take pictures and then to ebay and donate the funds generated from it.

I\'m up for however.

My personal thoughts right now are that the new Ogre Kingdom miniatures from GW seem fairly interesting and I am betting that they would fetch a good price being the \'it\' thing of the moment. That said, I\'m not even sure if they sell the miniature seperate or if they are all boxed.

Being an army, we\'ll also have to keep the theme more or less in line with eveyrone AND the bases pretty much in line so that they seem like a cohesive unit and not just a bunch of stuff tossed together.

All that being said, I don\'t know squat about any of the games so it\'ll take one of the game geeks to figure that one out.

:p

I\'d be happy doing either, and whether it is paint up a unit or a single figure. Ogres sound good, I\'m itching for an excuse to buy some, and the unit size would be manageable.

I also wouldn\'t mind doing Rackham or Warmachine. So much good stuff out there. :D

You know, I completely forgot about Warmachine. I think that would be a real tickle to paint up as well. Might be a bit interesting though if you went with something like Khador (spelling?) as everyones reds would be slightly different I\'m sure. That might be a bit of a problem.

Of course, we could always do one of those mercenary bands.

Aaaaactually ... and this just occured to me, but we could also do one of the Reaper Warlord armies. Reaper has a great line of miniatures AND they are fairly cheap and realistically easy to get ahold of. Heck ... I\'m almost more for that idea more than anything as it allows for a wider range, easy pick up and cheaper miniatures.

I think the size and army of the warband (skirmish or full size army) will really depend on how many people take part. If we are under 15 people then the skirmish size would be more appropriate (Confrontation, Warmachine, LotR (something like the fellowship for example)). If we are in the 20 people ball park than we could do a decent size army (WH40K, WHFB, Rag\'Narok, ...).

How about closing the list on wednesday 12th of January to get this show on the road as quickly as possible?

@FF : I think all the Ogre Kingdom minis come in boxes. But depending on geography of the people participating, it might not be that much of a problem ;).

I would have to say that doing a Reaper army/warband would be a bit of a problem for me as there are very few stockists over here and practically none within close range of where I live. Warmachine could be good, the colour issue ie reds as FF mentioned would be a factor in most armies so I personally think that that would add a bit of character and make the completed force look like a multi national / painted army.

Same here :(.

I\'m in.

I\'m leaning towards skirmish (I\'d rather do a few minis well, units bore me) and Rackham or Warmachine. If we do GW I can help with army selection.

None of GW\'s skirmish stuff is really current, so I think we would have better luck with Rackham or Warmachine.

I know there are some store owners here, would it be possible for us to come up with a mini list, then one person orders it at cost and we pay them cost and shipping. That way there is no worries about whether people can get the stuff locally. (for example I have to get Rackham from France and shipping on single minis is expensive).

Just my 2 cents :)

I kinda like the Warmachine angle, just because it is different. Rackhams minis are excellent but everyone seems to be doing them, as well as a couple of the RR\'s feature Rackhams.
Don\'t get me wrong as I love all things Rackham but I think that Warmachine is a great range and also would give me a reason to paint up some minis that have been staring me in the face for ages and also get them off my stockpile.

End of the day...(i take it this is for the asia charity, you didn\'t mention it TAB)... it\'s about making as much money for the charity as possible, and that means GW people....

Tammy has a good point there on GW.

Doing stuff because it is different is all well and good, but we need to look at what is going to sell to get good money for the charity...

GW ogres would prbably be the best, but they come in boxes of 6 for £18 (or something ridiculous like $40 US)... unless we can sort it that one person assembles 6 ogres and distributes 5 of them to other people... obviously sharing the cost!
