Does \'EAVY METAL TEAM paints also with Vallejo paints?

Greetings to everyone.

This is my first topic, however I am not new tot his site.

I wondered for a long time now if the painters of \'EAVY METAL TEAM paints also with paints from other companies along with Citadel painys.

I was quite sure that they did that and (obviously) never mentioned.

But now they revealed themselves.

At page 95 of latest White Dwarf magazine (number 349) it is obvious that on the table at the photo there are plenty botlles of Vallejo paints (I think also of other companies too).

Games Workshop shows us clearly that paints from other companies deserve also to be used from its painters.

I think that then they deserve perhaps our interest too.

I haven\'t seen the new white dwarf but it might just be citadel paints in squeezer bottles, I don\'t know. To find out PM razza or someone else from eavy metal.

they certainly look like vmc bottles but they are never mentioned in thier painting guides it annoys me cos i know that the colours they get on thier models aint just painted with citadel paints there are others mixed in there too. Alot of painters on here use vmc and other brands too and i must admit im starting to look into getting them because of the range of colour that vmc do

well, i asked kirsten this exact question, and she said no, all the stuff in wd and codexes is gw, but they use other paints in their own time \"just to see what theyre like\". paints dont seem to make any real difference i think
the guy who painted this

Well given the photo I would say it is hard to identify the type of paints they are using, yes they look like some of the bottles are simular to that of reaper and VJ\'s however there is also a good selection of the older style GW/Citadel paints and it is therefore possible that the pots in question could be the early Citadel inks :D

I\'m kinda suprised GW hasn\'t converted over to eyedropper bottles. Esp. if the EM team uses them that way.

I\'ve phased out most GW paint and gone to VMC or VGC simply because of the paint bottles.

It\'s almost certainly just citadel paint put into another container.

I figure that I should probably answer this one since it\'s my desk your discussing ;)

The white lids are on old GW paints like the old goblin green you can see in the fore ground of the pic. I have others like deadly nightshade and ghoul grey :)

The other ones are eye dropper bottles which I put our old Citadel inks in as an experiment to see if it made any difference to use them or an old brush to get the ink out of a pot.

Does that answer your query?

I preferred the old pots with the white lids. Would be nice to have access to some.

I bought some dropper bottles to try them out but don\'t much care for them. I get a crust around the tip and end up with dried solids on my palette when droppering in a dollop.

If GW switched to dropper bottles I would never buy a Citadel paint ever again. Flip tops 4 life ;)

you have to remember that most of the guys and gals in Eavy Metal have been painting for years, and its true that we may have tried other paints aswell, i know i have. however when you paint with GW paints day in, day out you get used to how they work, interact and how far you can push them. basically we just use GW paints because thats what we are used to using and we know how to get the most out of them, and if im brutaly honest, i think they are the best paints around. however Eavy metal do have a hand in the development of the paint range and because of that you may from time to time see things on our desk that are being tried or tested and aren\'t on sale. for the record ive tried most of the paints available for my private stuff and always very quickly go back to our our GW paints :)

i love the eye dropper bottles...don\'t waste as much paint since if i need a drop, i can get just 1 drop :) hehe

I still like a combination of Vallejo and GW paints :D
