Do you think a website just for .....

I have been thinking about this for a few weeks now, do you think a website that just has different \"recipes\" would be welcome and well received ?

A place where new painters and old alike could gain ideas from tried and tested recipes.

for example here is a recipe for ork skin i found on c\'mon by modderrhu.

\"- base with 1:1 dark angels green and codex grey
- glaze with 1:1 goblin green and codex grey
- glaze 1:1 camo green and fortress grey
- a very thin wash with yellow ink
The greys helped to reduce the intense greenness of the ork\"

if its a good idea, would you guys help build the data base of recipes, all credit would go to the person who submitted the recipe and would also include a link to the persons website etc.

So what you think, an online painting recipe book, should I do it or not, would it be used ?

thanks guys.

If you include photos so we can see exectly how the\'ll look this would be a great resource. I\'ve lost count of the number of times I\'ve seen a mini here and wished I\'d known how certain colours/effects were achieved.

Yes photos could be added also, I was thinking the same thing, always asking for recipes and ideas and losing ones which I have found.

reason i thought about the idea.

yes c\'mon does do this, but c\'mon also does sooooo much more.

Was thinking a site that just did a recipe list would be handy.

:D

Despite my sarcasm I do understand what you are saying, however what paint/paint system are you going to cater for:
Citadel, Vallejo, Reaper, Privateer Press AppleBarrel Craft paints.

You see the list is endless and there are so many variations and mixes that you are talking about building a serious online database not just a simple site. I\'ve got about 4 differing ways of painting flesh, Generulpoleaxe has another 2 or 3.

Far simpler is to ask for recipes from the CMON community and compile an article giving full credits. (Articles can be easily amended).

I think Dragonsreach has a point. CMON is a massive resource and I have found it invaluable.

But the no. of combos and graduations of mixes would be mind boggling.

I think if you can do it though and get the contributions and photos you deserve a medal as it\'s a big task.

yes i think it would be tough, but the fact that there is so many different ways to paint skin for example, was the reason why a \"mini cook book\" would be helpful.

Even better would be the recipe and a photo + a link to an Article :)

dont worry about the sarcasm dragon its one of the reasons why i log onto c\'mon lol

I\'ve been grabbing odd links for techniques that I think might be handy and sticking them on my blog (more for my use than anyone else)!. However having a single moderated resource with painting techniques & photo\'s or links on would be an excellent idea.

Alternativly, as mentioned an article compilation would be a cool idea - especially if it were something like a PDF, .doc, or html with page breaks in - this way it would be possible to print out a complete methodology so that you don\'t need to keep referring back to your computer.
