Diluting GW paints

Hi to everyone

I would like to have some opinions about what is the best thing to add to a paint pot when the paint is getting thick.

I use GW colours, and I add clean alcohol (95 grade)from time to time, it\'s an advice I heard ages ago but never actually thought seriously about it. It seems to work fine, but I have been having second thoughts lately.

I went through some older posts, but didn\'t came up with anything concrete until now. Any knowledge on the subject would be very appreciated :)

Thanks a lot / forgive any bad english

I just use water. I\'ve got a blister pack stuffed with the leftover tabs on metal models (I\'m cheap, what can I say? lol) and I toss a piece of that into the pot to work as an agitator.

Every few weeks I will open up all of my paint jars and add a few drops of water from an eyedropper bottle. This prevents them from getting bad in the first place.

Oh my (insert expletive here) (insert fictional diety here)

Ive still got pots of GW paints from the 1980s, they are STILL useable, and they wont melt your minis!

Add that stuff you get from your kitchen taps. I cant remember the name atm......oh yea! Its called WATER!

First of all, thanks for all your replies

I still have the \"orc brown\" paint, and I use it normally :D

The problem I get is usually a \"grainy\" effect that means that the paint is clogging. Once you get to this point, there\'s no turning back..
This is what I am trying to avoid

you can use a medium that slows the drying time available from Liquitex for example. But I think what Matt does is the absolute best option.

I\'ve never mixed Alcohol into acrylic paints and somewhere deep in the recesses of my memory I\'m sure there\'s a good reason.

Paints dry too quick anyway. Why make them dry faster with an alcohol blend?

Kinda defeats adding retarder to your sauce if you add accelerator to your mix.

Skyy Vodka!
Highly pure and basically a mix of water and alcohol. Asides from that, it gives brushlicking a whole new dimension.

I will never touch Vodka again. My next door neighbour\'s Ukranian and had brought some \"Un-named Vodka\" back with her after a visit.
It was like hitting the \"off\" switch.
