Will there be any other way of getting this figure Retail as having to pledge $85 for a figure is wrong.

Who says you are entitled to own every figure? You are not pledging 85$ for a figure, you are pledging 85$ to support a podcast and are getting an array of swag for dozens of games. Just because you only want one figure doesn't make it '85$ for one figure'.

Also... Heroes are hardly needed for AQ, and not having one doesn't impact gameplay at all, especially since you have the rules for free.

No that is what he is offering unless we are going to go to the extreme of contract law It doesnt matter what reason he is putting on the sale Just as I can have any reason I want wanting it He wants the money for the podcast , I would like the figure what he then does wiith the money is none of my concern.

It is mere semantics he is offering the rewards in the hopes of people taking the higher pledges other wise why bother. You may just as well issues those pledge levels with 'You have out thanks for helping the project get made' to Honor KS terms and let people chose without reward incentives. The fact is it is a marketing tactic to drive people to the higher levels. He knows people want the figure so they will pledge to get just the figure even if they don't care about the podcast nor the rest of pledge items. You can call it anything you want but at the end of the day it is merely a commercial transaction. The fact remains you are not making a donation to a charitable organisation .

I don't have a sense of entitlement I am however entitled to hold and express an opinion and I merely wanted to know if it would be available in other ways then I could make an informed decision of no that is the only way that figure will be available so is it worth $85 to me OR no it will be available later via someother means in which case I may be able to buy it cheaper at the cost of having to wait longer.

I never said it was a charitable donation... but I do like his podcast, I like his reviews, and his review is a major reason why AQ got as much support as it did and why the AQ KS was such a success. So pledging to help podcasts or other online shows get made is worth it to me.

85$ is for supporting finance his podcast for 2015. Promos are just that, promos. And you are not entitled to get a figure for what you determine should be retail value simply because you want it. If you don't want to support the podcast, then roll the dice later and try to get one via other means. I am going to support the podcast and it is worth every penny to me.

Which if you learned to read and COMPREHEND you would see is exactly what I was doing in my first post asking on the forum of the company that is responsible will there be another way of purchasing said item.

What I don't understand is if you don't like Tom Vasel and the work done through the DiceTower Network, then why would you want a PROMO FIGURE of TOM VASEL? The rules for this hero are openly available, purchase a different figure and assign the same rules to that character! Go on with your life!

If you do like him, or follow any of the MANY podcasts and video reviews on the Dicetower Network, then supporting the Dicetower during this kickstarter makes sense. The Dicetower Network is offering to provide a service through the Kickstarter and this is their primary funding for the whole year. No advertisements are used in the Dicetower podcast. I just don't get the hate. . .

I do think he should be doing a patreon instead of a kickstarter. It's already been a successful show, there's no kickstarting it, it already started.

That said, I'm tired of reading things like "basically a way for a person to do nothing but board game reviews and go to game conventions all year while living off of other peoples money" when that is basically what reports have been doing since FOREVER. That's the point. He's not taking advantage of anyone in any way and and any more than Rolling Stone or People or CNN or PBS do. He's only asking people to give what they can give and at certain levels of participation you get a little more.

Apologies to Highjack the thread but also wanted to add to this.

Personally I love the dice tower and wish I could afford to pledge at that level, unfortunately this year I cannot. This leads me to ask if anyone doesn't want the miniature for any reason I'd be happy to chip in for it and cover delivery (highly unlikely I know but it is always worth asking)

Alternatively could anyone recommend a good proxy miniature?

Cheers

+1. I can't agree more.

Dice Tower provides a service like any other business. I love the service they provide me and am willing to add some funds.

if you don't like the service then don't. But it is really a form of adult crying to attack what they do and how they make a living. If anyone else wants to review games and go to cons and make a living... then start by putting in the hard work they do.

I feel the same way about Tabletop and Watch it Played. Those guys provide a service that I patronize on a regular basis. I would be disappointed if any of those went away.

Before you posted this did you try contacting Tom? Because I did and he told me that the figure will be available for separate purchase (probably through BGG store) When? He did not minis, but it will eventually be available.

I just want to point out that most of the promo items are not exclusive to this kickstater. Most of these items were donated to this kickstarter to help raise funds. As Spazzfist mentioned, Tom publicly mentioned in one of his Monday weekly Q&As (video on Youtube) that there is not shortage of AQ promo characters and they will be available after the kickstarter is over for a much more reasonable price.

Besides I'm sure that there are several people backing this project that will get the AQ promo but don't have the game. That means we will see several of them on ebay and no doubt they will show up during the JVMA later this year.

Actually I did before he posted that video reply
