Attached is the link to two new minis I just painted
Both are test minis, I am currently going thru a kick where I am really trying to learn and improve. Any suggestions or comments will be of great use as I really want to move in the right direction.

I have been looking thru some youtube videos and tried wet blending on this guys sword, and I tried alot (maybe 15-20) super thin layers of super watered down paint on the scale mail. Let me know if ether was sucessful. For reference, the skin was painted in my standard style, of moderatly thinned paint with alot of changes to the color (ie brown w/ 1 drop of elf flesh, then a layer with 2 drops of elf flesh etc.)

Next is my Gladiator

http://www.coolminiornot.com/212126

He did not picture very well, his skin is the product of much more thinned paints, and I am very happy with it. Something else I did that was unusual I painted him in segments, ie I painted his face, then another time painted his arm. My normal technique is to paint all the skin, then all the leather, etc. Lastly I was trying for a NMM brass which I do not feel went well.

All comments are helpful, I am trying to very hard to reach the next level. (an 8.0-9.0 roughly on this sight, ie just below master) Im really stuck in the 6.0-7.5 range. (I dont put that much stock in the scores, but the comments help me improve, and hopefully the scores will follow)

Well, I really can\'t offer any tips to improve. Congrats on two nice figs though. The ghost rider style tattoo on the demon was pretty slick, and I liked your Gladiator as well.

I if pressed for a comment...I think you talent is nifty and stylized and your efforts show.
So focusing my small mind for a few minutes I would mention my first thoughts... one thing I pondered was on the net if you painted the negative space to match the background you were going to use in the picture it would be more realistic to the eye.
Or if I were looking for other possibilities, I wonder if you could drill to make the net net like? or take it off and recreate with monofilament line, 200 pd test or the likes.
Too much work, maybe, but I agree with you that nets are awkward looking.
The skin is smooth and the face is sweet.
I feel the legging and the pole on the weapon are very similar in color and that may be a distraction to the eye of a bit too much white in one area.

The demon efreet has a Bobby Wong kind of feel to it for me. I really like the style you have going there.
I might have broken up the height of the fire in the circle a bit to add diversity yet it does not take away from a really crisp mini. It is my favorite of the 2 minis. Good luck with your goals.
I found a glass ceiling each level and when you least expect it you will break through just paint to have fun and as you are learning a bunch the rest will follow.
