Decals and varnish??

I\'m going to be applying some decals to a few figures soon.
I think firstly I will spray the figs with a coat of gloss.
Then apply decals.
Then respray another coat of gloss.
Finishing then with dullcote.
Is this a good way to go about it?

i\'ve never used decals for ages but.. are there any specific reason why you spray it with gloss warnish first? Otherwise it seems like a good idea. I remember I just added them and finished of with purity seal to blend them in. Or even painted over them to get the exact same finish.

Th decals need a gloss finish to stick to if you put them on a matt surface they lift.

Remember to cut the decal as close as possible to minimise the possibility of the carrier film showing - I believe that the use of softeners is very effective but have never used them myself.

I also give the area a coat of gloss varnish before finishing with Dull coat - only you (and any one on CMON if you post the pics) will know they are decals and not hand done;)
