OK so starting a new thread for this mini as I'm gonna focus on this to be my best painted figure so far. Aiming for a average rating of 7 as my others are hitting about a 6 rating.

The figure was a replacement for my miscast Sslyth figure (4 miscasts in a row) after calling GW customer services.

My idea behind it came from a online game I play called League of Legends. There is a character in the game called Twisted Fate (a bit of a rip-off of Gambit from Xmen) and you can buy different skins to use in game.

This was until recently my favorite skin for him and led to the idea behind this mini.

So this is where I'm at so far. I have a lot of tidying to do on the base but hopefully you get the idea.

I don't usually buy materials for mini's I'm working on, I usually put resourcefulness above resources but I had to pick up some balsa wood for the stand. I used the plastic from the mini's blister pack to cut the individual cards and went from there.

The idea for the colour scheme on the fig will be something like this,

As ever I'm doing this to improve my painting so please feel free to criticize, suggest or ask anything. I really want that 7 :)

7's (and up) can be really elusive. The judging here is fickle and inconsistent. I wouldn't get too hung up on a number. Just do your best, and take satisfaction in knowing that what you learn on this one will make the next even better!

As for the project on hand - I'm not sure how comfortable you are with converting, but if you are up to it I'd work on the eldar's legs so he looks like he's got a foot up. As it stands now he looks like he's falling over!

I agree, usually in order to get 7z and up you need a big name like Elly3438, khavor, cassar, TrystanGST, or the like. Those guys get good numbers. Heck, cassar is so popular he gets high 8s and 9s for unpainted minis.

As for this, I like the concept, try bending the leg so it looks more natural. Colorwise, maybe try making the jesters red a bit brighter, to help draw attention. Will you be adding some elaborate designs to the cards?

Hey Tryst the figure isn't fixed, he was tilting back slightly. Only gonna attach once he is painted, The figure was standing on some generic rubble on the slotta so once I cleaned it off and I rotate him so the standing leg is further forward than the raised it looks quite natural.

Chad, I will be doing a design on the cards. My first proper attempt at freehand uniform patterns, not looking forward to it. I will probably be painting the under side of the cards as well, I was thinking of doing five aces but not sure. In terms of the red on the jester I was thinking of a deep red for the clothing and the gems will be much more vibrant red. If I'm feeling confident I was gonna try and throw on the directional lighting.

This is a pretty interesting concept. Is the rough texture of the building material going to get in your way?

technically i shouldnt be getting the votes as my stuffs hardly what you'd call a mini and as chadders has pointed out they are unpainted...Im just such a lovable big cutie pie, a people person you might say hmmm just off to go gaze at myself in the mirror lol.

psst i think you two deserve far better than you get.

oops almost forgot if you are going to cut n reposition him i would do the feet not the legs.
