Dead or Alive

I finished my latest diorama and finnaly managed to take some pictures of it.
The miniatures are mostly from Red-Box-Games, just the skeletons are from Mantic-Games combined with Games-Workshop skeleton heads. The Mantis-Games skulls looked way too comical for my purpose but fortunately the GW skulls fitted quite well. I only had to customize two skeletons for this diorama (the one crawling to the top and the one who got shot by two arrows) and could use all other miniatures right out of the box.

The base is build from scratch as usual. The foundation is build mostly out of multiple layers of cork and some tree barks for the rocks. The shrine is made out of styrodur and covered and skulpted with milliput. The trees are bade from some random tree branches and the small branches are made out of thin twisted wires. Some WIP pictures can be found on my facebook account „Crackpot Miniatures“ or in my Coolminiornot WIP Threat: http://www.coolminiornot.com/forums/showthread.php?53323-Crackpots-mingle-mangle"

This project took me around 2 1/2 months, which is quite fast for me for such a big diorama. I think it is my biggest diorama so far with the most miniatures on it. As I finished just the first miniature I thought I hade made a huge mistake to paint so many miniatures for just one project, especially considering my painting speed. But I managed to paint at a rather good pace and didn't try to be too perfect on each single miniature. So every miniature has it's flaws which I would try to fix if it would be a single miniature project, but I managed to accept these minor flaws and rather prefered a quicker completion. I think it worked out well this way even though there are many spots which could be enhanced but I feared I could loose the fun and motivation on this project on the long run.

I hope I don't have to say too much on the story of this project. It should allow for different interpretations and everyone can come to a different background story what is exactly going on here. :)

So I hope you like my new project "Dead or Alive" and comments, suggestions and votes are welcome!

Very impressive mate. Some great painting and base work filled with loads of details. I especially love the blue circle around the wizard, the orange vine matching with the evil wizards orb and
how there is more 'green' where the hero's are.
Bravo!

Almost Perftec! Aw, crap.
I still can't believe how well you painted those tiny little minis and the level of detail you packed in!

Thanks guys.
@TenBall: The mage on the left side is not very dynamic and I feared he would not pop out enough so I thought about a magic effect. The blue circle was quite easy. I just cut out a stencil out of plasticard and airbrushed over it in 3 different blue layers.
