Dave's Generalised WIP log

Hi All,

I've been wandering around here for a while now and despite reasonable improvement I feel I'm running into walls too often, just bashing my way through rather than finding ways around. To that end, I'm going to put pen to paper and start this WIP log in the hope that the flaws can be pointed out before they become too big to get around.

So, here's the first outing. Hasslefree's Tammi

The plan is to add water to the base eventually.

So far, I've done her legs

I think the boots look a litle flat but I got the hotpants looking alright.

Any thoughts?

Almost Perftec! Aw, crap.
Welcome! That's a strong start there. I like the boots. they look like brand new Doc's. I would wait to do anything else to them until you have the rest of the colors in. That reddish brown might look different with the rest of the pallet in place.

I agree with Zab. Get the other colors blocked in. Often times I find myself thinking I haven't shaded enough, and then when I get the surrounding area colored in, everything falls into place.

Yeah I think the boots look fine as is and that jacket is tops!

very nice progress. The hair doesn't look quite right to me yet. perhaps some more color variation and some deep shadows near the neckline. The fibers of the hair are very nice and distinct under the pig tails, but seem to blend together on the top side. Maybe hit the tops of the top hair strands with a brighter highlight.

That looks pretty sweet to me. The basescaping is well done and at the same standard as the mini which is great because sometimes doing them separately you can have one looking better than the other when you go to mount the mini.

Hi All,

Tammi is almost done. Just waiting for the water to dry and some varnish for the base. I think I may have put too much on but we shall see how it turns out. Thanks for all the comments so far, it has been encouraging.

@Krulebear: The Purple one is made by a company called Gaugemaster. I think it is more for railway models but I got mine from a shop which does more architectural stuff. The smaller yellow/orange one is by Mininatur.

And here is the next project, started while I am waiting for the water.

Hi All,

Finished the Roman. Will get some proper pics up once I dig out my lightbox.

And without further ado, moving on to the next one. From the large to the teeny tiny, it's a Hasslefree Grymm

Every time I get something of their's I'm amazed how small it is. However, it's just another exercise in painting skill. I've done it big, now I just have to do it small!

Also, anyone got any good tips on how to make water/gunk look like it's flowing out of the pipes?

Thanks
David
