I am fairly new to mini painting and I want to build a Dark Elf army...My only problem is... I can\'t find a color scheme I really like that isn\'t to difficult! I don\'t like the GW paintscheme. I\'m thinking of blue and violet with Dark armour with gold trim. I also want either dark brown or gey skin. But I\'m oopen to suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

Lime green and purple - since you gave us no other info in your post - I would go with pure shock value in a Dark Elves color scheme - Do \'em as punk rockers

A person in my group of gaming friends has an awesome dark elf colour scheme. He painted all the armour a laquered dark purple, with fairly bold (but well painted and thin) highlights. Then, as a contrast to the dark armour, he painted the cloaks a bright white. It looks insanely awesome alone, and with the entire army colour scheme, and even with the white, the contrast with the dark armor gives that nice \"dark elfie\" feel.

Twist your mind on this idea

I painted my Dark Elves under the notion that they were fallen elves thus i used what would be concidered High Elf and Wood Elf scemes. I painted the spear men using blues, whites, and silver, and the shades and les armored troops with greens. This is something most plaers don\'t think of.

If you go to: http://www.paintingclinic.com You will find a great arcticle about choosing color theme. And the has an exemple the great doctor used a dark elf army and he used the best color scheme I have ever seen on a dark elf army: turquoise and orange with shiny armour.l Now I know it might sound weird said like this but it really is great, forth taking a look at. Good Luck with your armie.

hmmmm..... id say either the night elves or \"NE\" from warcraft 3 (visit blizzards site) or possibly a naughty wood elf theme like green clothes, gold armor and purple cloaks. i think also one thing to consider is maybe having fun outside the lines and make them a spin off of dark elves. you know how chaos space marines and good space marins have different chapters? do it like that maybe and have a spin-off dark elf army with a slightly different history etc. then again i dont think pale skin would go well in the gold green purple scheme. lemme think.

1. gold armor green clothes and purple clothes.
2. purple armor, faded blues for clolthes and grey cloaks.
3. maybe a khorne scheme of marroon plate armor with gold trim and deep red cloaks.
4. that black and orange from white duff 284 LA winners is good.
5. faded brown marron cloaks with silverish armor with pale skin.
6. a mettalic\'ish blue armor with purple cloaks with lighter trims. it was a great color scheme i saw on some chaos knights in WD.
7. silver armor with blue cloaks and maybe gold trim.

several others already mentioned some of the ones i did. just trying to think out whats in my head.

Perhaps various shades of dark and light gray, but with hints of blue or other colours mixed in might also look nice, if thats the right word.

Blue, violet and gold (and a bit of green) is how I painted mine.

My first attempt at a dark elf army was blue and orange. However after painting most of the army, I lost interest in the scheme, so got rid of them all. Bascially, This is my second dark elf army. Well, third, if you count the one I painted for a friend.

The metal parts on the helmet are GW gunmetal, chainmail, and silver, in at order. The violet is Vallejo violet, with a blue-violet base, highlighted with Coat d;arms elven grey.

Does anyone know how a very similar color could be using GW paints? Btw, Faust I like the Blue and violet more then the blue and orange, although both are stunning.

I think dark elf color schemes should be dark, and not as brightly colored in general to reflect the feeling of the army. But what ever floats your boat...:)
