so me and my pla were playing a couple regular games and i was trying out my new spacewolve termy drop pod army and he was playing his mix of wych, urien, grots, warriors, vehicles blah blah blah. any way the first game i brought in all my shooty squads first only to be met with very suddden death. on the second game i brought in my one supper cc squad with griimnar in it. alone that squad killed 3 grotesques a talos 1 raider and full squad of wychs. now im not sure about his point costs but for grim and 4 termys to kill that muc i think they proved that dark eldar arnt as cc as we thought. the wychs low toughness and strength really screwed him to :p

the pain tokens give them feel no pain then furious charge and then one more thing. they get one every time they kill one whole squad. it helps them be better late game then start game. this of course only works if they completely destroy a unit in cc and no vehicles aloud

It really depends what they were armed with. Grotesques are meat shields and should never come against Termies. Wyches were perfect to throw them at the termies. The Talos should not have been in CC with you at all due to powerfists/TH destroying them and well... a Raider... it is a flying cardboard box.

You killed about 400 pts worth includng the raider and about 320 not including it.... it's not a CC unit. Considering the wyches were the only tarpit unit there with nothing to bail them out and assist them killing the termies.....

I don't think your experience has anything to do with CC units and your claim is not justified at all. However, for the same points cost and a little imagination I am 100% sure that in one round of combat Grimnar + his followers could be easily wiped out with little to no effort at all.

ie: 1 beastmaster unit ( 4 beastmasters, 5x Khymera, 6x Razorwing Flocks ) for 198 pts on the charge would be more than enough.

funny story is we tried that out last game and he had a pretty sizeable beast squad. again on the charge i eliminated 2 khymera 1 flock. he killed of my 2 termys with no storm shields but after that no problem. gimnar and his 2 buds just went to town and ate them up. i was doing an average of 7 wounds a turn that were unsavable and it dropped his flocks so fast

Perhaps bad dice rolls, however here is a recap:

36 rending attacks on the flock alone. Hits on 4's wound on 5's ( no pain token for furious charge )
15 from the Khymera ( in which he allocates the invuln saves on ) Hits on 4's wounds on 4's.
12 from the Beastmasters 4's and 5's again.

It is also a 39 wound unit.

He needed to allocate instant death attacks on the Beasmasters ( to kill 4) and the Power weapon attacks on the Khymera and normal saves on the Razorwings. They would/should have help up for at least one or two turns ( even though they may have killed nothing in return ) for 198 pt unit that holds up Grimnars uber CC sqaud. He still wins ^o^

How much did your unit cost out of curiosity? =P

Just wondering how your mate was playing and if he is experienced with DE or not.
