Daemonhunters

The Grey Knight Terminators are the nicest space marine minis, and the rest of the army ain\'t too bad either. So I decided to start a little Grey Knight army, and the army list is secondary to the minis since it\'s doubtful whether I\'ll actually game with them or not.

However, I would not like to spend any money on potentially obsolete minis. How old are the Grey Knight and Terminator minis? When might new sculpts be expected?

Well, the Grey Knights (and the Codex: Daemonhunters) came out some five years ago, but seeing as the Codex is somewhat specific (They haven\'t yet released Codex: Alienhunters yet), an overhaul probably is not due for quite some time. So I\'d say go for it. Only thing is if you wanted to include other Space Marines or Imperial Guard, but seeing as those are quite new as well, and you prolly don\'t plan on gaming anyway, all should be ok.
Hope that helps

Okay, well, the DH codex was released in early 2003, so just over a year before the current edition of the main rules was released. I think there was only the witch hunters and IG that came out later. Therefore they still have to release the orks (which is next), Dark Eldar, Necron, Chaos daemons, the actual Blod angels book, Space wolves and the alien hunters book, all of which may be before the next DH book and miniatures.

Even if they do get a rules overhaul in the near future I doubt there will be any significant changes to the minis. Half of the Witch hunter range is comprised of the original Sisters of Battle which are getting on for a good ten years old or so.

Ah good. So apart from actually still looking quite fresh, the minis do still have some longevity then. Thank you, me lads! Hugs and kisses all round. ;)

As for the army list, well, I\'m not fond of the imperial guard, and the other space marines don\'t do it for me like the Grey Knights, so I was thinking of a pure Grey Knight army. With Malleus inquisitor and retinue, GK terminators, GK regulars and dreadnought. Maybe, maybe a vehicle of some sort. An army put together for its looks, and just happens to be legal.

My DH army is a pure codex one, made up of termies, power-armoured GKs, Inq Lord and retinue, assassin, 2 dreads and some stormtroopers.

Well considering that the \"original\" Grey Knights where released back in the late 80\'s, I don\'t think that you have to worry about the models becoming obsolete any time soon.

Ahh nostalgia... I still have the Slaves to Darkness book (recommended for mature readers  ) and the companion volume the original Lost and the Damned.

grey knight armies look awsome, i no thats why i bought mine, but i didnt find it very balanced on the board... heafty points cost and little numbers was the end of the vast majority of my knights on the table

saying that thou the ammount they WILL slaughter once close enough is unreal, they are mincing machines, and again they do look immense in the display cabinate or on the shelf.

I still have the StD book, although I never did buy the other one. As I mentioned in another post somewhere, one of the founders of my local club wrote some stuff that ended up in those books, after GW said they weren\'t going to use it, and gave no credit when they did. :cussing:
