Daemonhunters and Witch Hunters Army?

I was thinking of starting to paint a Daemonhunters army but I also like quite a few of the Witch Hunter models am I allowed to mix the 2 and if so could you give me some idea of which of the models I could use.

Also can Daemon Hunters use Predator tanks, Attack Bikes etc...?

Please excuse my lack of knowledge I\'m only just getting into 40K

Most of the Inquisitorial hangers on are interchangable as are the inquisitor models themselves. The one with the Witch Finder General style hat might look slightly out of place but no one\'s going to sue you for using him.

As for the other question there\'s a list on p30/31 detailing what requisitioned Spacemarine and Imperial guard forces you can take and those things are on it. However don\'t forget that they are not Grey Knights but rather marines from another chapter drafted in to help.

Personally (and speaking as exGW staff) I wouldn\'t recommend Daemonhunters as a way to start playing 40k. True the models are nice but the outlay is more expensive and they are not what I would call representative of the 40k universe. IMHO Grey knights should only be wheeled out on special occasions when you are playing a scenario which warrants their use.
My suggestion is to go for a small Marine army to start with and use Daemonhunters as allies. When you are more comfortable with the whole thing swap that around so the main force is Grey Knights with the marines as allies. That way you essentially have two armies in one which has got to be a good thing:D

Good choice ( I think)

The way I started into 40K was through Witch Hunters. They are a beautiful army to paint, as are there allies the Daemon Hunters, however they both are not very easy or forgiving armies when you are learning how to play the game. Both armies have a wide vaiety of special rules (faith points, aegis, sustained assault for deamons against grey knights, etc) that make they rather confusing to someone learning the game. I do agree with the previous post, Space Marines are a solid force and great to learn with. They are relatively inexpensive when compare to either inquisitorial army, have a wide range of flexibilty for play style, conversions, and army composition which make them appealing to the new player. By all means play what you like, but understand that both the armies you have mentioned are more finesse type armies that work well when used properly by an experienced player.

To answer your question, no on both counts. Daemon Hunters can attach space marines however I do not think they can bring either heavy or fast attack choices into the base Daemon Hunter force. The same applies to Witch Hunters but is also more restrictive. Space Marines will not fight in an Adeptus Soretis (Sisters of Battle) army, although you can attach Sisters to a Space Marine army, or even a Daemon Hunter army if you wish. Again there are limits as to what types of troops you can bring depending on the force being allied.

Hope this helps!

Yes to both really. The SM books out since the general codex are generally thought to have weaker lists. The plain SM book has lots of flexibility allowing you to customise your own chapter for your own tastes.

Unless you will be playing against tournament types you won\'t really feel the difference between Codex:SM and the Black Templar, Dark Angel and Blood Angel lists.

One quick note though if you want to use Inquisition troops the Dark Angels are noted to be *ahem* less than friendly towards outsiders....

Proph, yeah, all of them come with lots of fun kinds of exploding death.

Dark angels can open fire on inquisition, and will refuse to ally with them.

If you\'re playing a scenario game, you could even ally alien forces with imperial...

Ie. Guard and Eldar against chaos, but this is rare due to the xenophobia of the Imperium

If you want more flexibility with allies, I would suggest Chaos, who can corrupt anything, or Tau, who will accept alien races into their culture (From what I know of them)

It seems pretty obvious to me that you\'d have a hard time playing this army effectively. You\'re going to need to know 4 rule books in order to play effectively. Most people have trouble with one.

In addition to the main rule book, you\'re going to need the Witch Hunters, Deamonhunters, and Space Marines rules. If you\'re feeling up to it go ahead, but realize this, almost all enemies are going to have an advantage over you. You\'re going to lose... a LOT. That is, until you learn all your rules and strategy.

Some people will disagree with this, but your units are high points, you\'ve got some very restrictive choices, the special rules are many, and there are choices the opposing player has, just because you\'ve taken a DH and WH army.

Look in the back of the WH book. Your opponent gets a psychic power just because he\'s opposing you. He doesn\'t even need to pay points for it.

Good luck dude, but I recommend just using one army, until you learn the rules and have some games under your belt.
