Custom Characters & More!

Hey all, I'm Kryzen, and I'm new here. Just received my Kickstarter copy last week, and Arcadia Quest has quickly skyrocketed up to my #1 game spot. My group and I have been having a blast!

When I get into games, I tend to become enamored with them, and naturally, I try to design my own custom pieces for them. So, I figured this would be a good place to share my creations and hopefully get feedback to balance them =)

The heroes range in how much I tried to flex the game design. Some are far more subdued abilities, while others are clearly experiments in the game's rules and whatnot. I also (started with) trying to fill some "gaps" in the AQ lineup, be it pop-cultural references I think could be fun characters or potential classic character tropes that I would one day like to see included. Speaking of the characters, obviously I don't own any of this art. I got it all from google image search. If it's an actual character, their company owns the rights, I just think they'd be fun to see an allusion to in an AQ character.

Anyways, here's my heroes (too many to list all in pictures):

I'll keep updating this as I go.

I also have an idea for some homebrew expansions to try out, but I'll get to those later when I have the time to actually work on them.

Please leave feedback! I would love for these to be balanced enough to actually use. Thanks all!

*there's also a clarification to make; for some of them, i couldn't find pictures that even began to express what I had in mind. This is most obvious with Hector, who is supposed to be a Conquistador. Also Ed; I couldn't find a fun picture of a small Blackbeard. Lego Blackbeard came closest. Also Jethro; it was very hard to find a picture of a werewolf even close to accurate. He's supposed to be a werewolf, and that was the best i could do, haha. Ollin means "Movement" in Nahuatl (Aztec language), just to explain name.

Hi Kryzen, Looks like you've been busy. I'd suggest if you want balance you need to play each character 1 at a time as a part of the original set of characters. I was going to ask about where your art came from but then I read your note. IMO the art and a corisponding figure are going to be the hardest to acheive. Your Jacky Bones is actually the exact same as my original first custom character which I appropriately named Grimm. I then called his ability Reaper's Gaze.

note: The image is not mine. I cannot draw so I just found stuff online as a replacement until I learn how to draw chibi style grim reaper that fits more with the game art style.
note2: Also, could not find KLTF Litteratra for free and it's not worth $150 to make custom characters look perfect IMO. So the character name is just ITC Highlander Book, Bold.

It's tough to judge balance until they are properly played alongside the originals. I'm sure all the original abilities didn't all start perfect. As with all game design, play testing is your friend.
