Hey there, whats up?

This is one of my first times posting on these forums, and im looking for some friendly advice from you guys as i know some of you got mad skillz.

Seriously tho, alot of you guys have inspired me in my modelling and painting, and i was hoping you could give me some input on this crisis commander.

He is a product of some xacto hack n\' slash with a forgeworld crisis kit thrown into the mix. The thing i really need some help with is to fill the empty space on top of his jetpack. I was maby thinking of giving him a sort of Samuraii banner. But im not sold on that idea yet. If i where to do a banner i would most likely make it from plasticard tubing and thinn plasticard melted to shape.

I think the over- extended running posture adds to the \"Anime\" feel of the Tau. The green stuff is good, over all it looks great.

As for the Samurai poles w/banners. Don\'t try to use plasticard tubing it\'s too brittle and you wont get a good look. Instead use a bit of SOLID 1/16 brass rod and bend it about 1/3 the way down. This\'ll give you a nice looking banner pole and it\'ll be way sturdier.

Thanks for the tip Lucas. I will try to build the banner and see how it looks.

PS: Glad you liked the pose, i did alot of different poses before i settled on this one.

Over-exaggerated poses give a much higher sense of speed for Tau Battlesuits, as you\'ve discovered. Looks pretty good. I like the massive single engine look, the bitz make it spiffier than most attempts at modifying the backpack.

like it. the banner could look great butit would have to be well done (ie flowing correctly) to enhace the feel of the mini\'s movement. have a go and see what it looks like

Allright, i have tried to produce a good looking banner for the suit.

The struts are plasticard tubing with brass rods inside. The cloth is 0,4mm plasticard. I tried to heat it with a heat gun and position it so that it flows in the natural direction. Think it looks ok. Man, i wish i was good with green stuff, its so fiddly.

What do you guys think, yay or nay?

From the side as requested. I had major problems getting contrasts in the white banner when taking a pic of it. Thats why the pics are kinda bad.

i am not feeling the flag either. just not tau enough. have you considered taking a tau gun drone and cutting them in half and mounting them on top in different positions? or possibly part of a jump pack from a space marine?

just an idea.

Ok, the flag came out bad. I felt it didnt fit with the dynamics of the model and was just making im taller and more clumsy. It got chopped.

I made an icon on his pack shaped like the Volcom logo.(Volcom is a company that makes cool skate surf and snowboard clothing)

I made another air intake under the tip of the logo. I also threw in some wires made from plastic tubing bendt to shape.

The logo came out nice, so im keeping that. Im just not 100% sure on the wires. What do you guy think? Yay or nay?

Damn white plastic, very hard to get a good photo of the logo im afraid. Need a cam with better contrast control.

Bonus pic of a kroot!

the crisis commander is looking really cool. The volcom logo is very infitting with tau background and the wires do look nice,,,although,,as you\'ve probably realised already, a lot of tau gadgetry hides all wires, so i dont know how well it fits with the model. If it were me, i\'d keep them on purely because they look really cool ;p

Ok here is what seems to be the finished mini. Made him a base out of plasticard, tubing and H-beam rubble. Im very happy about how the pose turned out. The base also enhance the pose a bit.

heres some pics, please tell me what you think. (White plasticard and cam bla bla bla)
