Counterattack Interaction

So, I ran into an interesting query while I was playing with a friend fielding House Goritsi against my Nasier. When the Zeti use Deadly Flourish, would I still get counterattacks from my Ashmen even if the Ashmen aren't currently engaged?

The Deadly Flourish attack is made after the model moves 3" but the model does not become engaged. The counter attack from the Ashmen occurs after the attack has been resolved and is "against an active enemy in range". Since the Ashmen have a 00 for their range they would only be able to attack an active enemy in base to base contact.

Speaking of Counterattacks. Does Act with Certainty "trigger" when they are hit by a [Reaction] Counter-attack? (and vice versa)

Yes, in this case each effect would trigger the ability until either one of the models was dead or the results stopped showing up.

Rather cinematic, actually.

Well, not entirely accurate. If the Ashman starts and attacks a lineman that Generates a Counter Attack (rolls an armor), the Lineman will get the Counter Attack, and if the Lineman kills the Ashman (without Generating an Overpower) the Ashman's Act With Certainty would trigger, so they would make their melee attack, which if it triggered a counter attack, that attack could strike a different active lineman, which could cause a cascading affect.

Now, if instead, the Ashman attacks the lineman, again triggering Counter attack (rolls an Armor), and in response the lineman rolls a parry (which would normally trigger the Asman's Counter Attack) the Ashman would not get the Counter Attack, since he can only use this attack against an active unit. Since the Ashman is the active unit, he has no target that he can hit (counter attacks only target active units, while Act With Certainty does not have the "Active Unit" restriction)

Correct, since counter attack specifies that you "may perform 1 of its melee attacks on an active enemy in rage". Since only the model whose activation it is is considered active, if they get hit by a counter attack, they are unable to trigger their own counter attack since there are no Active Enemies on the board at that time.
