Converting minis for Arkham Horror

I thought to convert some 25/28mm miniatures to use as character models for the Arkham Horror boardgame. I am looking for suggestions as to which models to start with.

Here are the characters I would like to end up with:
- Joe Diamond, Private Eye (http://www.arkhamhorrorwiki.com/Joe_Diamond)
- Kate Winthrop, Scientist (http://www.arkhamhorrorwiki.com/Kate_Winthrop)
- Mandy Thompson, Researcher (http://www.arkhamhorrorwiki.com/Mandy_Thompson)
- Monterey Jack, Archaeologist (http://www.arkhamhorrorwiki.com/Monterey_Jack)


The boardgame has a range of official prepaints, but they do not look very interesting to me.

Here are my best ideas:
- Joe Diamond: Copplestone Castings two-pistol gangster(http://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/images/gn2.jpg), swap head;
- Monterey Jack: basically an Indy clone, can use Copplestone American adventurer (http://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/images/bc5.jpg)

It is the ladies that I have most difficulty with.

Any helpful suggestions on this project are appreciated. I haven't done much conversion before so for me this is a chance to learn new stuff.

I'd suggest a browse through Hasslefree, Heresy, Crooked Dice & Fenris. Plenty of appropriate stuff there I reckon :) I'm in a rush so haven't checked your reference minis i'm afraid, I just know these guys do scientists & lab techs., archeologists & Doctors, etc. :D

They are available for pre-order, however!

(I did!)

Also, have a looksee at the Reaper Chronoscope line. Be warned that the scale is a bit iffy on some, but I think there is a fig for everyone of your characters in there. I was posting a few, with pics, but lost my post....and I can't be bothered to do it again!
