Can anyone tell me if I got a good deal on these metal Wolfen or if I overbid? ???

I bought them on eBay for £97 including postage (£82+£15) which is $168.

\"killyox(undercoated) varghar(some paint on) 6 predators(three undercoated, two needing assembly) 9/10 fangs(these are mostly not undercoated and some require assembly) syriak(undercoated) ophyr(undercoated) lonewolf 1(undercoated) grave guardian(not undercoated) repentant 1(undercoated) wolfen hunters(some parts missing) wolfen with crossbow 1(undercoated) wolfen predator 1(not undercoated) wolfen hunters 1 and 2 (some undercoated) familiar\'s of air(undercoated) all the cards for these models are included quite a few spare parts as well.\"

I thought I\'d got a pretty good deal since Rackham have ditched metal in favor of pre-painted plastic but then I looked at this webpage and I wondered if the Wolfen they are selling are still metal:

$10 for a \"Wolfen With Crossbow\"? It looks exactly like the metal one sitting in front of me right now! Is it plastic or metal? It\'s a pretty hefty piece of metal and I can\'t believe a high-quality sculpt like that could cost under £6. I\'m hoping to split up the collection and re-sell them for a profit so I\'ll be annoyed if I\'ve goofed.

it\'s 12 euros from the rackham site, and that is indeed a metal miniature.

the prepainted plastics aren\'t that good when compared to the metals.

The places I know here in Canada that still have the Rackham metals are selling them at a pretty discount for most pieces, to try to clear the space, I\'d guess. I\'ve been trying to pick things up, but I don\'t get to that end of the city very often.

Oh well, at least prices on Wolfen in the UK are higher. I bet if they carried the GW brand-name they\'d be twice the price.

I know a couple websites where one can buy Wolfen minis for under $10. So in my opinion you were ripped off. Some places even sell confrontation minis for 80% off but those places have barely any stock left.

yeah, some of the u.s. stores have been slashin\' prices for over a year, and have almost moved everything...
if ya live in the u.k., shippin\' would probably even everything out...
it\'s all a matter of what\'s still available versus where ya live...
wolfen went pretty quick from most of the stores here in the states...

the new wolfen plastics are not even half as cool as the old metals...somebody should be interested in takin\' a few of your minis off your hands...

cheers

Ya I do not understand why they switched to the prepainted plastics. I know that painting is not for everyone but it seems like they completely ditched their hobby demographic. Although I would probably not have bought up all the confrontation minis I have now if it were not for them cutting production. Being able to buy a wolfen mini that retails at $30 for $9 is a dream come true. Now I am waiting on GW to follow the band wagon (cutting prices I mean, not ditching their hobby demographic).

By the way do you have a wolfen prowler in that lot? He is the one mini I really want that I still have not found in stock :(

AT 43 prepaints were outselling their other products in america.
it made sense for them to restructure their confrontation models and rules to suit the market they were targeting.

remember, prepaints sell far better in america so why try and sell high quality metals that need painting when the larger part of your customer base just wants to game.

if i had the money i would invest in prepainted historicals, now that would make a killing in the american market.

Yes, I\'ve got one called \"Onyx The Prowler\", is that the one you\'re looking for? eMail me if you want to make an offer - postage would be about £2.10 ($3.70).

yeah, pre-paints sell like hotcakes here in the states...
i\'m not sure why, as there is no shortage of painters, but i\'ve watched those crap d&d pre-paints and heroclix do hot business for years...
personally i can\'t stand \'em..i repainted a hellboy heroclix...even with a good paintjob i don\'t like the mini...

my lgs sells at-43 and confrontation plastics...they seem to move well enough...i find \'em to be a big disappointment, but the new army books are cool, and cheap...

luckily, rackham still sells all the old metals and are even releasin\' new sculpts in limited editions...they\'ve been havin\' a lot of nice discounts on their site, and shippin\' is free for orders over 100 euro...

@AG3: that samurai wolfen prowler is badass...i\'ll have to paint mine up one of these days:twisted:...

cheers

AG43: Keep looking on eBay. I finally managed to pick one up myself a couple of months ago at a decent price.

The ones I CAN\'T find are the Worgs! Can\'t remember which one I prefer, I think it\'s the one in the slightly stooped running pose. They were all over eBay for awhile, and I missed picking one up at the time.

Oh well...

Zora, I can have a peek in my 2 LGS if you like. Both have offers on their Conf stuff (30 and 50%), and I think one of them may have Worgs still. Dunno what the postage would be like to the States, tho.
