Colours and advice for painting a Biel-Tann Eldar army

Hey,

I\'ve just bought an Eldar Battleforce and am about to start painting it up but thought I\'d get some advice first :)

For the white I was going to undercoat white then wash with codex grey, then highlight back up to white. Is that a good technique? Is it easier to just paint it grey first?

What colour greens are used? I only have GW colours, is it mainly Dark Angels green highlighted with Snot green?

Thanks for any advice given :)

To do white quickly, base with fortress grey and work up to white. For deeper shadows start with codex grey.

For green, I personally would start with Orkhide and highlight with knarloc green and Dheneb stone.

the first painting i ever did was a beil-tan army, and its worth knowing that DA green with a single edge highlight with snot green comes dark, very dark indeed. fine if you like that, but id recommend 50:50 DA and snot green basecoat

Thanks for the pointers, I\'ll try both of those out. My first test I tried looks a right mess :( I did a tester Sam Hann (or however its spelt) and that came out really nice, but I prefer the fluff for the beil-tan as it fits my army plans better.

I\'ll just have to learn how to paint white and green haha

My suggestion would be what type of white do you want?
There are those that look ivory and those that look like clorox bleached white.

From blue, grey, yellow, even brown or flesh base-color.

When you choose which white, choosing the kind of green to compliment it would be much easier.

That\'s just my take on it though.
For mine I went with a more bone white, so that they fit the \"wraithbone\" fluff, and the walkers and Dreadnought(Wraithlord) matched in.

Astronomican grey has a very slight green tint to it so that may work well as a base for your white.
I have used Goblin green as a highlighter colour for Dark Angel green; although if you are just going for edge highlighting then it may be to much contrast unless you plan on some mixing/blending.
