Color recommendations

I ordered a DarkSword Paladin (and a bunch of other stuff) and got a free Thief of Hearts. I'll be building a display with the two battling, but I'm on the fence on what colors to do the "demon" in. I want to go with dark, cool tones to offset the warm colors of the Paladin. Other than that, I'll keep my ideas to myself for the time being...

So, what colors do you recommend for:

Hair, wings, leather (gloves/boots) and cloth? Skin is vallejo pale greyblue, but I haven't decided on shadow/highlights either... lol

Thanks in advance!

If you consider the colour wheel theory then using a shade of green for the cloth will be a good contrast and will help to bring out the red tones on the Paladin when viewed together. Hope this gives you some help :)

yep, dark green clothes match up nicely with the red of the paladin.
For the metals I'd say: gold.
For the hair and wings... I'd probably stay with black (with blueish highlights) to frame the rest of the colors.

The wings in black with blue highlights were what I had in mind. I had considered a turquoise, but thought more blue to dark blue, which I could use also in the hair. The green cloth I hadn't considered, but I see the logic and it's a good idea. It makes me lean back to a turquoise highlight on the wings.

Gold was my thought as well for the metals, although I thought of a blueish-tinted steelgrey (basically making the entire thing somewhat monochromatic).

What about shading for the skin? I'm trying to avoid drow-like tones.

from my POW turquoise is a blue-green, so it's a good substitute to both the blue or green color.

skin: I'm not sure it's the best, but I would try highlighting it with a light yellow (bleachedbone or ivory) and shading... with some reddish-brown (to 'answer' the red in the paladin's clothes).

I discovered I only have light turquoise, which is mostly blue; but I have emerald, which is green with a hint of blue. Here's a 2/1 mix of emerald and light turquoise slapped on, with a quick coat of black on the wings and hair.

Not sure I'm digging the turquoise... Maybe a lot of blue shading with some light turquoise highlights to tone down the green? or go full on dark green?

Almost Perftec! Aw, crap.
I like it, shade it with some purple and that might help knock back the overpowering effect. That color has quite a bit a saturation. Lovely but hard on the eyes in big areas.

Some progress. Toned down the teal color on the cloth to more of a blue, and went with gold for the armor... but

GAAAHHHH THAT's WAY TOO BRIGHT!!!

LOL

Ok, so nobody would expect gold to be used as armor anyway, because it's too soft. Hmmm. Demons should be ancient, so let's tone it down and turn it into a bronze with patina...

Much better, and the hints of turquoise (that don't show up well in this quick snap) blend with the hues in the cloth and wings. Just got to wait for it to dry and put in the highlights.

Then, lots of touchups and finishing the skin...

Made some flagstones, and waiting for them to cure enough to break some up... so I'm playing around with visualizing the basing.

Thanks. There's a lot of dremel work on the bases to get rid of the rocks. It's hard to see in the pic, but I reshaped and fluted the paladin's base so she's leaping off a piece of column rubble. It'll show up when painted.
