Color Hue and Contrast changed on posted Mini

Has anyone else noticed that the color and contrast of photos are sometimes changed when they are posted on the site?

My most recent photo was terribly affected with a significant addition of red hue and loss of contrast. This is based on the difference in the CMON-displayed picture and the .jpg viewed on my computer using Corel Photo-Paint or Microsoft Picture Viewer.

Here is a link to my most recent image:

The background of this image should be gray. Here is a link to a different image of mine that posted \"correctly\" using the exact same background and lighting conditions. http://www.coolminiornot.com/177844
Notice the drastic difference in the color of both backgrounds.

There is also a substantial loss in the contrast from the original image. The file I uploaded can be made to look like the CMON-displayed one in COREL Photo Paint by sliding the Contrast Bar to -18. Thats a huge difference IMO and makes the image look very poor.

Does anyone know if some property of the image (dimensions, compression, etc) is causing this phenomenon to occur? The image is less than 200kB so I thought that I was preventing any resampling-caused errors. I\'m at a loss.

When you post, check your image size both by number of pixels wide (max 600) and total file size (max 100 kb).
Going over either of these and CMON\'s automatic compression utility kicks in - usually not with the best results.

I had used the 200KB threashold for my file size because that was the amount noted on the file upload page. Nevertheless, I now notice that most of the files are shrunk to about 100kB when displayed on the page. I\'ll try resampling and resubmitting the picture again tonight and see if it makes a difference.

Thank you

Is just compression, compare my images on this site which are all compressed using \'save to web\' on photoshop (some of them are larger than 200k and are on photobucket, but are still compressed down)

To the pictures on my site which have had no compression.

My site pictures are bolder and more contrasted and show the colours much better.

I reduced the image down to 600 pixels wide and then resampled it down to less than 100kb in size before posting. The image posted much better.
