CMON Ritual

Do you have a particular ritual each time you log on to CMON???

What\'s the first thing you look at?

When I first arrived on these blessed shores, I spent my time going over the articles, then moved onto lurking on the forums.I looked over the top ranked minis but didn\'t vote.

Deciding that this was a pretty alright place I joined up, and spent most of my time on the forums.
Having read on a thread the importance of votes and comments to painters, I began to spend a bit more time actually looking at the minis and making votes, as a relative newbie I am not really comfortable commenting on others work as yet, though I have made a couple.

Now, I first go thru and vote on a bunch of minis, before heading off to the forums. I bring up two browser pages for the minis so one can download whilst I view another. My aim (now don\'t laugh) is to get through the whole lot of posted minis, though I haven\'t set myself a timeframe, I\'m aiming at between 50 and 100 per visit.

My normal CMON ritual:

1) Check the \"News\" page.

2) Check Chrispy\'s comic if it\'s one of the normal days for it.

3) Check the \"Forums\".

4) Check the \"Top 10 in the Last 7\"

5) Go to \"Browse\". Switch to \"Yet to Vote\" and start voting. With the wonders of a cable connection, I usually have four or five voting windows open @ this point, plus one for the Forums, so I can keep checking in on them.

I certainly won\'t laugh at you wanting to vote on \"the whole lot\" At one time, I was completely caught up. Then came Christmas, time off, other distractions and I fell behind by about 3 - 4 thousand. IO\'ve got that whittled back down to under 2000, but with vacation coming up, I\'ll probably slip back again.

Pretty much like that.
If my hubbie is alone, he just lurks, together, we vote on a lot, if I\'m alone, not so many votes, more on the forums and articles.

My S.O.P.

1. Check my gallery, see what my minis are up to, optimistically hoping for comments lol

2. go to main site and start voting, try to leave at least one comment

3. open forums in second window

4 switch between windows as the opposite loads to read forums and vote/comment

after and hour or so tops.....head to see what\'s up elsewhere.

Just a pattern that I fell into that seems prety comfortable for me.

The Ritual

Don Glasses, checks to see if coffee is still hot, rolls a fag, open skylight.

Open CMON, hmmm....nice mini, vote, eyes twitching down to the latest posts *bite knuckle* must vote on at least some mini\'s.
Forums open get upto date leave the whole thing up whilst mixing paints.

Back to a few votes , back to forums and what do you know paint is drying, coffee cold(partially due to the open skylight with half smoked ciggy on ledge).

Here\'s my usual routine when entering CMON:
1. Look at the news and auctions, close that window.
2. Check if there\'s any new messages or anyone on the shoutbox I know.
3. Check the Forums.
4. Check top last 7 days.

Mostly it\'s 4 before 3, but that\'s the order I just did right now because I\'m posting here..

I pretty much close all the windows right away and move on to the forums, only look at the site when i need inspiration.

1. Open CMON
2. Open board in new window.
3. Open one window, completely random usually. If it\'s one of the six boards I frequent: Read/post. If it\'s a CMON mini: vote. Rinse and repeat.

1) open CMON and look at the News page.
2) look at any forum entries I have not already seen.
3) vote on minis until the right hand forum message indicator says there are new replies or entries.
4) right click and open the new forum reply in a new window.
5) Rinse and repeat as necessary.

Work -
1. Open CMON and read Chrispy\'s comic on the right days

2. Jump to the forums and read all day and post what I can.

Home -
1. Open CMON and read Chrispy\'s comic on the right days

2. Open second and third windows at CMON - Two to view mini\'s, one to read the forums

3. Check my stats

Try to log on to CMON...get \'Web Site Not Responding\'....

Repeat numerous times....

Success!

Log on to forums......get...\'Web Site Not Responding\'....

Repeat as necessary....

until...

Success!....

If I appear grumpy sometimes folks, now you know why

2. Pull out book of witticisms
3. Pull out dictionary (those fools will never realize I\'m actually quite boring and stupid!!)
4. Open up a couple of browser windows, one of my image gallery, another of the forums.
5. Check on my images, scores, etc. use those browsers to start surfing and voting
6. Go into the forums and click on the \" Who\'s online button\", all the better to creep people out, and see what they\'re doing.....Heeheee!!!

(In all fairness, I start my voting at 6, so he\'s gone up quite a bit since the start...but I had actually crept up toward the 8 mark I\'m so desperately hunting, and now I\'m watching him sink slowly back into the low 7\'s...it\'s just so depressing)

Sacrifice there must be a sacrifice!

As the news master, CMON is sort of my relaxation.
1. Open a new Window in FireFox Presss the \"CMON Forum\" item in the toolbar to load each forum in a tab.
2. Open another window in Firefox. Open my 20 new CMON tabs to stage 20 minis to vote/comment on at leisure later without having to wait.
3. Open a new window in Firefox and load Top in last 10. then command click all the ones that are new, so they open in a new tab.
4. Wonder to myself again if there is someway to smoke or inject \"mini essence\" straight into my veins.
5. Snipe Glyn, Darth, and anyone else I know. (hehe, jk)
6. See if anyone else is online.
7. Start voting, when I get to 5 tabs, if I am feeling saucy I load another \"Rack\" of 20. If I am trying to catch up, or it is a slow news day, I open 10 windows, and load a smooth 200 minis and vote on em.

Occcasionally there is a post like this one, and I shake my head at all the people out there still using Microsloth Exploder. I wonder if they all spend their days pushing M&Ms around with a popsicle stick for fun. (yes, I am talking to YOU!)
