[RESOLVED] 9 vs 12 infantry, 3 vs 4 cavalry (RocketBike/MonoWheel) in base game

Let me start out by saying thank you Ted and CMON for the wonderful Rivet Wars game that was delivered to me recently! I really appreciate the high quality of the art, the minis, the game, the packaging...and your efforts to delight/satisfy the backers, e.g. the 2 new free elite troops (3 of each) we are offered due to the delay with cardboard that did not punch cleanly (Update #61). Thank you!

I do have one question about the game and/or the delivery of the game that as far as I can tell has remained unanswered...

It's been noted on this forum (quoted below) and in the kickstarter comments (e.g.Power Klaw 3 days ago) that there is a discrepancy between the kickstarter description of the contents of the core game and what actually arrived in the base game. I know that CMON can't be expected to read every post or comment, but I am hoping they notice this thread or I will try to contact support.

Received the game yesterday... the game and minis look amazing! My US general is a bit warped and won't fit in his O-tank, but other than that everything is awesome! My wife also fell in love with the game after seeing it in person.
...
One question though, the kickstarter said we would be getting 12 Union troopers, 12 Blight troopers, and 4 cavalry units for both forces... the base game comes with 9 infantry and three cavalry units for each side. Will we be receiving these other missing units with wave 2 along with our blitzkrieg 2nd set of base minis?

I've read through the CMON supplied information and although some people here or in the kickstarter comments have suggested in reply to these queries that CMON/Ted acknowledged the discrepancy, I can't see an "official source" that they have.

Here is the picture from the front page of the kickstarter about a 3rd of the way down showing what the core game includes (I did read in update #54 that the plastic terrain does not fit in the retail box and will not be included in the core game). In this picture you can see that Army Level 1 of the core game includes the 12 infantry and 2 cavalry (e.g. rocket bike) per side and there are an additional 2 cavalry per side in the Additional Vehicles below that (for a total of 12 infantry and 4 cavalry per side in the core game).

The same information about the core game is depicted in the top of the BK level picture on the kickstarter front page (as well as the Guide to Blitzkrieg Pledge Levels) where they describe and picture the contents of the core game (a total of 12 infantry and 4 cavalry pictured per side in the core game). These quantities (from the core game) are also spelled out in text in this picture.

Update #2 (4 cavalry per side in base game):
Wow, the core upgrades are really being knocked out and we're fast approaching our first Blitzkrieg level stretch goal, and that's a nice one with extra tanks!
If we hit this stretch, every game will get an additional 2 Cavalry and 1 Vehicle per side. That makes 4 Cavalry and 2 Vehicles!
Blitzkrieg only. The big kahunas come out to play at this level. Get an additional tank for both the Allies and Blight for Blitzkrieg level pledges as a free bonus!

Update #10 (doubles the base infrantry of 12 for BK pledgers):
So... how about some expansion content? We know the next stretch is for double infantry...
Blitzkrieg only - Sometimes, more is better. Get 12 more guys per side for a total of 24 additional infantry!

Also in Update #10 a preview of the next stretch goal (doubles the base cavalry to 8 per side for BK pledgers)

The core game that I received (and the one in the CMON unboxing video) only contain 9 infantry and 3 cavalry per side. This matches the quantities listed in the instruction booklet. I'm assuming that it's pretty obvious that the core game only will contain the 9 infantry and 3 cavalry per side. So the question is will the kickstarter backers receive the 12 infantry and 4 cavalry per side (x2 with BK) - which would mean that wave 2 for BK backers would contain 15 infantry and 5 cavalry per side to make up for the "missing" ones from the core game in wave 1?

I've read through the updates, the comments and this forum, but I have not seen this question answered (might have missed it if it is there). @CMON - could you provide an update/clarification please?

Here is what I have seen mentioned regarding updates about what ships in what wave:
Update #54: The plastic terrain won't fit in the core box - the whole thing becomes just too big to put on a retail shelf. All backers will still get the plastic terrain for free, but the retail box won't include them - they'll be available separately. a. Shipment 1 will only include the core box and possibly the plastic terrain, and will most likely complete production in October and will likely ship from our warehouses in November.

And then in Update #70:
Last week we also stated that backers would be receiving just the core box game in their first shipment. We first announced this with update 54, on July 19 2013. At the time we thought there was a possibility the plastic terrain might ship at the same time. We decided against that as it would add another small delay. While the Blitzkrieg Pack is duplicate models found in the core game, molding, assembling, and packing these models would take extra time. We wanted to ship the backers something as soon as possible, and that meant shipping just the core game in Wave 1.

And in the kickstarter comments: Hey guys, I just wanted to come in and confirm that the terrain will be bundled in wave 2. This ended up being the best way to get the game to backers as soon as possible. Wave 2 is still currently on schedule to hit in this quarter. Thanks! -Spencer

The only reason for the length of the post and the direct references to the pictures and quantities, quotes is to provide the source of the information that we are basing our questions on. I'm not trying to be snarky or disrespectful to CMON (and I'm sure they would reply if I were to contact support....but I imagine a lot of people might have this same question so trying to save them some trouble).

I haven't been able to play the game yet as I pushed some other games on my family and game group right before I got RW (and I have to let other people get their games in - who knew our first chapter of Mice and Mystics would take so long?), but it'll be hitting the table soon. I have obtained some paint brushes to try my hand at painting these wonderful minis (gotta review updates #27 & 34)... I am really looking forward to playing the game and the rest of the stuff coming in wave 2. Thanks!

p.s. my US general was also warped and doesn't fit O-tank so great. That's the problem with delivering this high quality stuff, we come to expect it!

It has been answered in multiple places, but it would probably be good for CMON to put it in one of the updates or someplace very obvious a I expect there will be more threads asking about this.

There are probably other places, but it has been mentioned..
...in the comments of update #61
...in the Unboxing Last Night thread
...in the most recent update, although it isn't clear that they are referring to the extra units unless you already knew what they were talking about.

A little reading of a) KS updates, b) email notifications, or c) other forums threads goes a long way.

Normally I have no problem answering quick questions, but seriously, this information is very available and in the time it took you to write all that you could have had your answer. "Can you point me to where it was answered?" is basically saying "I can't be bothered to even attempt to find the answer to my question."

CMON answering in Update #61 Comments:
  • @ Marcus Torrez The Core box is shipping alone in the first shipment, any additional addons and stretch goals will be in the second shipment.

  • [h=3]Marcus Torrez on November 27[/h]Idk if anyone mentioned this but from the listed miniatures in the core game, on the kickstarter page, the unboxing only showed 9 of each infantry(not 12) and 3 monowheels and rocket bikes(not 4). Are these extra from the KS or was there a change?

Another backer answering in the Unboxing Last Night thread:

If I remember correctly Ted already confirmed that those will come with wave 2.

But the orignal poster is right they NEVER adressed as to why the core game has a reduced unit count then what was promised. It seems like people not in on KS are getting shafted out of a fiar amount of stuff that was promised to people buying the game at retail.

If we can find Ted's original comments, my memory is that he said they overestimated how many could fit in the box.

I wouldn't say people buying at retail are getting shafted. The only promise made to them is what they'll see at the back of the box they're about to buy. They'll be free to decide whether that is something that interests them or not.

The numbers in the box were reduced for a few reasons. During the kickstarter we thought it'd be great to put more of this or that unit in the box and we even wanted to get the 3D terrain in there. When it came time to looking at production and fitting it all in the box the final product would have been too large for easy shipping, weight and fitting on retail shelves. These are all considerations that have to be balanced. The core box is now really pretty awesome from where we originally saw it. The size of the tanks and all the vehicles is much more impressive than I'd originally hoped it would be and CMoN has gone above and beyond to make everything really polished. So anyone getting the game at retail, IMHO is getting a pretty great product. If you look in the art book you can see some of this back and forth. I put in some images showing the different scales we were playing around with for the units, then how that would affect the size of the tiles, etc. and in turn the size of the box.

What this does mean is that if you backed the kickstarter you are getting a great many extras. You still get the extra units we'd thought might go in the box. You get the terrain plus all the other stuff. But that's what is cool about kickstarter. You guys took a chance on me, CMoN and Rivet Wars not really knowing how things would come out. In the end backers get rewarded for that.

Thank you Ted! I think the contents of the core game are great for those who just want that. Thank you for confirming there was no mixup and the backers will still get the armies pictured in the campaign.

I do not think that is fair on CMON or Ted.

The issue came to light as soon as they gave us a chance to play the rules via PDF. Nothing was hidden and they were up front about it , promising the KS backers would get what they were pledging for. As others have said , we backed up we get the reward.

In a couple of months it willhit the shelves as any prospective buer will simply get the contents as seen on the box, hardly being shafted is it?

{People who buy retail are not getting shafted. They could have done what we all did. KS items are not obligations for retail customers.

One thing i truly appreciate is that we, as the Kickstarter backers, received the first product run. I've seens other KSs that went to retail before backer obligations were fulfilled, which I think is poor form.

So - I applaud Ted and CMoN for this as well as offer a hearty THANKS!

+1, have to say I have enjoyed exposing it to people at one of my FLGS.

Edit: The game, that is.
