Cleaning an airbrush gun?

PTS

Just a quick question on what\'s best to use for cleaning an airbrush gun of thinned Citadel/Vallejo type paints? The type I have (and haven\'t yet used) is a metal Iwata gravity feed gun. I\'ve heard thinning with distilled water helps, but what else - they have cleaning kits online, worth investing in?

Also, are there any online tutorials about airbrushing techniques with acrylic mini paint?

Thanks!

\"Golden\" makes a good cleaner as well and it dries the metal fast! very good as a overhaul once in a while brush cleaner as long as you condition after it.

The airbrush cleaner I use contains xylene. It certainly does the job. As Shawn says, don\'t get it near the rubber seals!

I use a few scrubbing brushes and needles out of a cleaning kit that I bought from Dick Blick, Q-Tips, and some Creatix Airbrush cleaner. The cleaner really helps make the dried acrylic paint easy to remove.

Regular Blue Windex and then a couple passes with regular tap water.

Lots of people swear by windex. But one of the major manufacturers says to avoid amonia (windex) as it will affect the chrome plating.

soapy water. Complete teardown at the end of the day. wash through the nozzel (the Iwatas may be in two pieces - be very careful).

Pull the needle out the back, take the tip off flush well.

Larger nozzels/cones like the Vega\'s and Pashaa\'s - I\"ll run an interdental brush through them:
