I am painting Gazgul Thrakka (not sure if I am spelling that correctly and to lazy to check ;) )

I started this a LONG time ago and only just got my painting funk back on. The reds are almost finished, just a fading highlight and battle damage to go.

Not sure what to do with his boots though. Either more red with lots of dirt and muck or more metals with lots of dirt and muck.

I think it\'s spelled Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka but I could be wrong. It\'s been a while :p

Anyway I really like the look of this guy, the gold is fantastic. When I painted this guy ages ago I made the feet metallic. I think red might be better for your dude though.

Anyway would you mind telling us how you did the gold? That\'s just great :D

Do you mean the metals on the arms or on the power pack on his back?

The arms are a piece of piss to do really. Start with straight mithril silver. Do a few really watered down glazes with snakebite leather, then thin glazes of bestial brown - but not covering as much of the surface, then thinned glazes of scorched brown - again covering less area, then mix of scorched brown/black.

This was in a Aussie white dwarf article by Automaton. Really quick to do but you need to have the paint watered down to ink consistency or thinner otherwise it will look poo.

The power pack was basically th same but I added sap green ink glazes as well and then used a bit of greenish blue water soluble crayon for the corrosion.
