Check Out My Daughters Castle

Hi, I was hoping you all would\'nt mind my sharing my daughters castle she built for her school project. Torrie is 11 and they are learning about the middle ages, for her assignment she decided to build a castle and the surrounding landscape. I think she did a pretty ok job! It took her about 10-12 hours to build, the castle walls and buildings are made from flower foam, the trees are from the CMoN article about bottle brush trees, the moat and pond were made using realistic water. she primed the whole thing, then painted it, she painted the castle walls with granite paint, she also added flock and dirt in the fields, using straw and real plant materials or the crops. She also use some of my older minis so populate the place! If I can ever remember her password we will put this on under her account name, (Arya) any how, please let her know what you think.
Thanks
Gin
(Torrie/Arya\'s Mom)

That looks like the ruined moathouse from the Temple of Elemental Evil D&D Module (not the darn computer game, the artwork in the module).

Nice job!

Tell your daughter she has some skill there, I think she has the potential to be a fine painter/terrain maker as she grows up. Wish I had had that much talent at 11 years old.

Gin, you are in soo much trouble. Now she has had a taste of terrain modeling, you will never have a table again. lol

Tell her we said it is a wonderful job. Now go get the Temple of Elemental Evil and teach them to play D&D.

First of all, its wonderful. Its great when kids take so much pride and creativity into a project. Well done!

Just a little quibble. Why does she only get your \'older minis\' to populate the place? Stop being so ornery and give up the newer good stuff!!!lollol:D;)

Vike,
She only got the older ones because,
1) most of my new ones are eather demons (not good for a school castle):)

Or
2) Naked women! :D Really not good for a castle that was displayed at her school for more than a week

Actually that is the main reason she got the older ones, the castle was at the school for more thana week, and we were afraid some snot nosed kid would steal the minis right off the castle walls!

I would like to thank every one who commented, Torrie did not know I was going to post this here, I showed her the thread this morning before she left for school.
She walked out the door bouncing! You should have heard her when I dropped her off as school, telling her friends about the really awesome painters who had said neat things about her castle, you all made her Day!

Thank you!
Gin

Well, I\'m definitely not a really awesome painter, but tell her I think it\'s a GREAT start if she decides to go into the same hobby as mom!

Yeah, neither of those are too good to explain to the principal!!

Voted and commented. I\'m a bit worried though, I plan on showing my daughters this (ages 12, 9) I hope the don\'t get ideas to start use MY minis...lollol They\'ve got their OWN toys...
