Chaos Warriors

Ok I have been out of this game a LONG time, last time I was an active player was around 2000/2001.

I plan to have all my Khorne Warriors, equipped with;

Hand Weapon
Additional Hand Weapon
Shield

now I am led to believe any extra/different items need to be shown, ie if my warriors were to be using Halberds, they\'d have Halberds instead of Hand Weapon and Shield.

IF this is this case, it leaves me in a dilemma, as the Chaos Warrior box comes with enough main head weapons, off hand weapons, and shields with arms.

But only a couple of armless shields. So to create my models they would either have;

Hand Weapon + Shield (no extra hand weapon)

or

Two Hand Weapons (no shield)

I need the shields for early movement phases for the save bonus against artillery, then they use 2 hand weapons in combat, extra attack, but -1 save.

So is this strictly looked upon in the case where someone is shooting at my unit, doesn\'t see the shields because I can\'t put them on, then complains saying if they are using shields, it should be displayed on the model, or am I making a whole load of fuss over nothing ^^? :D

It all depends on your opponent really, some may be forgiving and not bother too much as long as it is written on the army list. Others may be wisywig crazy and expect it on the model.

Imho i would clip the fists off the shields and have them equipped on armour and cloaks etc, using flat lines of green stuff to make leather straps that they are hung on.

Or another idea as well could be after removing the hands on the shield to put them with the 2nd hand weapon arm.

As i personally dont think a chaos warrior wud struggle too much fighting with it :p

Still good lcuk an show us some pics of the warriors when they are done or WIP

on off-hand I think would be more fitting, as I\'m pretty crap with green stuff, and it looks a bit more menacing.

More feedback appreciated :]]]

Maybe could do a mixture of the two?

some with shield on off hand some slung over their back/sides etc.

any other ideas anyone?

For once I can understand the what you see is what you get rule. If the minis don\'t carry shields, your opponent might actually feel deceived.

Shields should be easy to make with plastic card, have them carried on their backs if that\'s an issue. Sculpt some weird faces on with GS if you want more Chaos on your Chaos.

the wysiwyg rule is important for things such as this.
if extra equipment starts popping up that you can\'t see, when the models are supposed to be equiped with it their isn\'t any need for minis.

have some of the regiment with shields on their backs and sword in each hand, and others with sword and shield in hand with a weapon slung over the back.

not only will it look cool (and fit in with the rules) but you will also improve your converting skills.

I agree with the two solutions that have been given (half/half or shields on the back).

Here\'s another one : spike-up and/or blade-up the shields to have the Chaos Warriors use them as actual second hand weapons ;).

If I was you I\'d hang fire a couple of months until the new book comes out. If it goes the way of all the other recent army books the entry will have them equipped with a hand weapon and shield as standard with the option to swap the shield for an extra hand weapon. Having a shield and two weapons means three hands worth of stuff and while this won\'t be a problem for the more... mutated warriors GW has a thing about only being allowed to use what you can carry in two hands.

I\'d hate to go to all that trouble only to find my unit is not legal any more.

hmm could be worth waiting, as I would be greatly disapointed if the rules were to change after the stress of converting them!

But nice idea\'s, and thanks for the feedback, I will let you know hot it goes :)

On the other hand you could just put shields and extra weapons on them and only pay the points to equip them with one of the two. As long as you make it clear to your opponents beforehand what they are using I can\'t see any problem.

Minis can mulititask too :D
