Chaos War Shrine

I was just thinking what other Chaos collectors were going to do about a shrine until GW got around to releasing one.
Most of my gaming friends have talked about converting a corpse cart, but I started looking at a black coach I\'d never got around to making. I\'ve got most of it done, the idea behind it was a passage from the book Shadowbreed. Where a band of Khorne worshippers were praying to a suit of armour, so i took the idea and made it mobile. The only thing is I\'ve hit a wall as to where to go with it and was hoping for some inspiration from others. The next problem is I don\'t know how to put photo\'s up on here so unless someone would kindly tell me how, I can\'t show you how it\'s looking so far.

I have no idea about the rest of it, but I can try to help with the photos. You\'ll need an account with a photo site, such as Photobucket. Once you\'ve got one, upload your photos there. The site should then be able to give you the direct links to your pictures. Go back to CMON and open a \"post reply\" page on your thread. Then click the yellow mountains button just above the text box to open a pop-up box that asks for a link. Copy and paste one of the direct links to your pictures into the box, then click OK. It should then insert the link with the appropriate tags and we\'ll be able to see your piccies. Rinse and repeat for more than one image.

the legs are not right for just a suit of armour they would hang straight down IMO also seems odd for a suit to have spear and shield in hand.
Chop the hands off then hang the arms more up and down the put shield and spear crossed at its feet.
Think it still looks very good just think could be better

Making the chaos warrior look more like a suit of armour on a stand, I recently hacked up an elf to turn him into a ghost, used a similar technique (see my BPI WIP thread). I\'d suggest cutting him up more. If the frame looks like a crucifix made from broomsticks then build it out of wire & attach the armour piece by piece. Cut off the arms, really scrape out underneath the shoulderpads, his left arm in particular currently has too much mass that can be \"read\" as flesh. Lean the polearm into his shoulder. Put the helmet on dead straight, looking up slightly, that slight cock to his head at the moment makes him appear to be looking at the worshipper in front. Cut his legs off under the skirt. Cut out everything above the boots. Drill down into boots so that they look empty. Place to either side of pole (armour stand). Do the same thing with his elbows, place gloves on floor in front of him or glue to hips as though hooked on (don\'t forget to drill out hole where his hands go in). Cut out all plastic of his decolletage to make the armour look like just a breatplate. Consider running armour stand out through top of his helmet with a small Khorne symbol atop? Do sacrifices take place atop the cart? Need drainage holes for blood & gore. Spattered the armour, old dried black blood, not fresh red?

I really like this so far, the pictures make all the difference :) Looking forward to seeing progress, B.

Now people have mentioned little bits, things don\'t look as good as before. I\'ll have to have a go at hollowing it out a little more, but to be fair most of the work was done while as was at work without most of my tools! I\'m going to change the skirt I think because I never liked it anyway. But I did have another idea about setting him out on a throne holding onto his weapons like the skeleton king in Conan the Barbarian, but I\'m not sure if that\'d work as well as having it stood up.

But an objective opinion is always helpful to. I might change the sword in the marauders hand to a smaller one or a dagger, when you think about a sacrifice it\'s not normally done with a dirty great blade.

So this is what I\'ve done tonight, the idea now is to have the axe leaning into the shoulder and the shield resting against his leg or propped against the body, not sure which yet. But I think I\'m going to attach the gloves to the shoulders with a length of chain just for something different.

Looking good, Tallxiii, getting it right now\'s well worth the effort. Be an awful shame to paint it up & then regret an early design choice :D I like the gloves on a chain idea, like a little kid with sleeve-string mittens lol B.

EDIT: axehead on floor as it leans into his shoulder (my preference) or the other way up?

I was thinking with the axe head up so you could see it, but it might look good with it upside down. I\'ll have a look at both ways later on.

I\'m not convinced on the Axe anymore, it\'s to big and can\'t be positioned properly against the armour. There isn\'t enough room to put it at it\'s feet either so I\'m going to see about a sword or single hand weapon to sit that against the side instead.

i would say go for a big ish single handed axe. resting on it\'s head (basically in the same pos/n as the current one but upside down)
