I\'m quite well aware of how many points a Chaos army costs Roger! The 15000 points of Nurgley goodness sitting on my shelves makes me like to think I know what I\'m on about
My point was, that while you can get three minimum sized units out of that lot, why on earth would you want to? Small units of Chaos warriors are reasonably resilient thanks to their high armour saves but in combat they tend to regularly lose out on combat res, even to things as crap as goblins. What you need is a decent block of troops which is going to have a res of 3 or 4 before it even swings an axe. Personally I try to have units of at least 20 warriors (or 25 marauders), or if I\'m desperate I\'ll field a unit of 15 warriors. Cheap troops may lose quite a few in combat against the warriors but 3 ranks, a banner and an outnumber means that every model on your front rank needs to cause a casualty. With an average 6 attacks on your front rank that means that if two of your guys fluff their attacks then you\'ve lost the combat. This is also assuming you haven\'t taken any casualties at all.
All this means that units of 10 tend to become at best a waste of points or at worst a liability. I\'d certainly see to buffing up my main units before I started thinking about spending points on extras. Maybe expand it to 1500 points and include the spawn then.
Due to their unpredictable movement, spawn are best used as a distraction and annoyance for your opponent. A good tactic is to concentrate your army on one flank and send the spawn down the other. This forces your opponent to either split his troops to go after both flanks or to concentrate his army on your main force leaving the unmolested spawn to amble along and catch him in the rear or go after warmachines. If he decides to shoot it that\'s less fire targeted at your slow moving warriors.
