Chaos slug beasts

Hi

I'm currently building a mutant army and wanted to do something different for my chaos spawn; so I've decided to make them as sort of mutated slugs with a nurgle feel to them as the army will also be overall nurgle.

This is what I have so far.

The bodies have been made out of shaping white milliput to get the overall slug feel and the extra details such as the teeth, spots & boils and tentacles have been added with green stuff, there is one tentacle made out of white milliput but it doesn't seem to want to dry so I may have to remove it.

This is my first attempt at doing something like this and I have a few more to build and paint so any help at all will be much appreciated :)

Right so the milliput I've used is only just about dry, I think it was due to it being a bigish blob that had a lot of water in it.

So while waiting for that to dry I've been working on some IG models that need a nurgle make over and some plague marines.

The IG models were bought already assembled and undercoated so I couldn't do much with them, so I decided to sculpt some nurgle markings on their shoulder pads:

The plague marines I reworked various parts with boils etc; I tried to make it look like the armour had changed into corrupted skin almost oh and horns, I added some horns:

Let me know what you think and hopefully I will be able to get some paint on some of them today :)

Made a start to painting them up, only worked on one so far to get a feel for how I want them to look. Quite pleased so far. Going to add some more dark washes to the metal to dull it down a bit more.

Right so I've been swamped with work so not had the chance to really do much. Mostly been applying basecoats to the horde that will be my army so not much worth posting of those.

I have been working on a few new weathering techniques on some tanks that I have never used before. I'm pleased so far. I've worked on two different methods, both a variation on the hairspray chipping method.

First up:

So the top picture is the chipping and the bottom one is after I've added some rust pigments (forge world orange rust and also GW Ryza Rust)

I won't go into detail of how I did the chipping (I can if needed), but basically I put a basecoat of burnt umber by vallejo model air. This was to give a nice dark tone to the rust and chips. I then chipped away and once dry I applied the pigments by diluting in water, I made 3 different consistencies to try and get differing strengths of rust. I then went over with a very light dry brushing of the Ryza Rust. That was it, I worked with small amounts building up from the centre of the patches.

Second method:

Right these pictures are of the second attempt. I was happy with the chipping on the first model but I felt that the rust just didn't feel "right", not natural I guess.

So I thought maybe if I apply the rust to the burnt umber and then the green tank colour, this would mean I would be chipping away to revel the rust which in theory would give me more of a natural feel the the rust.

This is the result so far:

The picture is a bit washed out due to the light this morning, but you can see the effect is a lot more subtle and I feel more natural. Not finished with the chipping yet but I ran out of time last night. I'm going to highlight the heavy rust areas with some Ryza Rust to give it a fresh feel.

For a first attempt I'm pleased with the results; if anyone has any pointers or ideas that might make it better please tell me!!!!
