Chaos god properties

Hi all...

Just working on some beastmen and wondered if we could collectively come up with all the traits of the four chaos gods that work well in modeling and painting

eg. khorne - red and brass, skulls, big foking weapons ...
Nurgle - green, rotting, bloated, pestulence.

Thought it might be helpfull to have a list of descriptive terms to reference. How about modeling stuff, poses and the like.
Any ideas ??
:p

K, then .... .... .... I was after, stuff that still looks cool but not the tried and tested stuff. sorry my examples were standard stuff. I like things like pale but not green nurgle stuff.

oh well...

Erm..
Tzeentch - Feathery, magicky weirdos. Lots of long and elusive weapons. Blue.. yellow.
Slaanesh - White, some pink, really twisted. Cruel and long weapons.

Take a look at the Liber Chaotica books. I\'ve got Nurgle, quite a good read.

I have had a lot of luck with purple for nurgle. Not the luxurious rich purples you\'d expect from slaanesh, but more like bruises and decaying flesh. Purples, fetid greens and greys.

For tzeentch, I am in the process of painting a beast herd where each model has it\'s own color scheme. I started by basecoating each model with a random color (including colors you\'d never expect for fleshtones, like green). Thin brown wash everything to dull down the color and make it a little more natural. Paint the fur a contrasting color, and then add weird warpaint. I have one that\'s orange with black tiger stripes, one that\'s purpley with bright orange tiger stripes over half his body, leopard print, etc. One model is midnight blue with red highlights in the fur. I even did one as an albino with pink skin, white fur and red eyes. All together they look really random and chaotic.

Khorne... If it\'s not bloody, it\'s not khorne. But maybe try using some layers of red-brown to simulate dry blood under fresh blood. As if the warriors don\'t care enough to clean off the old blood from their armor/weapons/clothes before moving on for more skulls.

Slaanesh... no good suggestions for slaanesh, alas.

Thats the kind of thing I was after, I love the idea of the random colour models for tzeentch ( I was thinking of mixing some Kroot plastics with my beastmen horde to give them a \'birdie\' feel)

I suppose the only thing I can add is that for my Slaanesh I like to model peicings on the flesh of the model.

Talking of beastmen, I liked the old late 80\'s beastmen which were sculpted to specifically fit in with the four Chaos powers.

Khorne were mostly dog headed, Nurgle were obviously in a state of decay and had tentacle things instead of horns, Slaanesh had quite a few hermaphrodites, and Tzeentch just kind of looked like \'normal\' beastmen.

As an aside, how is Tzeentch pronounced? Phonetically please if you will! When I was a kid I used to pronounce it Ta-zeen-uck. Now I reckon it\'s probably Ta-zeen-ch.

Not being funny, but I have always pronounced it as T-zeentch

it\'s actually meant to be a phonetic spelling of change....tjange.....ttzange....tzenge...tzeenge...tzeench.....etc....try saying it rapidly a few times, you see what they were trying to do with it

hehehehe...yes...well, it WAS thought up not soon after the 70\'s........

If you can call 5 years or more \'soon\'!

Frankly the name is a bit rubbish if it is a poor phonetic spelling, and as a Chaos power it\'s got to have the weakest image of the lot!

Slaanesh - any clashing warm colors work well (red-yellow, pink-orange). And tentacles...yeah! Tentacles are cool!
